Thank you Jesus, would not have been able to get through this summer without Him
Thank you SDN: a very informative site with supporting members

special thanks: arginine, UCB05, bhind, doc3232, and denner

and
Thank you Tony Horton (p90x guy)

First thing I wanna say:

SDN hypes alot of stuff
If your going to take your test soon, stop looking at people's scores and only post if you got a question or really need help
I realized that I would be looking at ppls scores and would be like damn I need to do this and that and watever.....
jus keep doin wat your normally doin
I mean its cool to look at how ppl study, but dont be like me and constantly look at people's scores everyday every minute cuz it freaks you out
I had the piano passage, and it wasnt as bad as I expected,
but because of all the hype and ppl complainin about piano and everything
my heeart skipped a beat when I saw the aspirin passage, and by the way, if you see aspirin or cAMP youll get the piano
but then again, I cant speak for all ppl cuz Ive been playin piano for bout 14 years, so I had an advantage, but nonetheless, just focus on your passages and keep practicing your method and youll be fine

another thing, dont let ppl get to you
you know yourself if you need to retake or if youll be able to do well on the test
some ppl were tellin me i wasnt gonna make the scores i wanted, but if you yourself believe that you can do it, fuuck it do it then

BREAKDOWN:

Perceptual Ability: 22 (96.2)
Quantitative Reasoning: 18 (75.8)
Reading Comprehension: 20 (72.4)
Biology: 23 (98)
General Chemistry: 23 (95)
Organic Chemistry: 21 (87.6)
Total Science: 22 (96)
Academic Average: 21 (93)

Very happy with my scores
Yea its not like the 24s and 25s like other people,
but I was aiming for a 21, and funny cuz I was aiming for an 18 in math, and 20 in reading

For resources, Im only going to put down the things I think were sufficient

In addition, its a very good idea to use your textbook as reference,
I had my ochem and gchem textbook with me from freshman and soph year

Bio: Cliffs AP Bio (with the 5 prac test book), little bit of MCAT Hyperlearning, Campbells book with online resources, kaplan online subject tests, Destroyer

Very suprised with this. I never scored above a 20 on my prac tests
Yes everybody says Bio is random, but very doable. Understand things, and dont memorize small facts. Know the big picture. Know your physiology, cell bio, and plants, and ecology. And you might as well study all the other topics. Theres just a whole variety of stuff so I cant say to focus on specific things.

GChem: MCAT Hyperlearning (must have), chads videos, kaplan online subject tests, ACS, Destroyer

Very simple. Know your basics. My first diagnostic for kaplan I had gotten a 13. But gchem is concepts, and youll learn how to apply them. I was amazed at how simple some stuff was.

Ochem: Textbook, ACS, mcat hyperleaning, kaplan online subject tests, destroyer

I had a lot of concepts, and I feel like I should have scored higher.
Im not too sure of what I got wrong, but nonetheless Im happy with the score. Memorizing a million reactions wont help by the way.

Reading Comp: I just did the practice tests. Topscore is kinda easy, and achiever is kinda hard, in my opinion. I would say practice with Achiever, and develop a method that works for you and practice it.
For me, I just wrote the numbers of the questions, and crossed them out everytime I would answer the question
I mostly did search and destroy, but for the piano passage, I ended up reading the whole thing, and I TRULY enjoyed it.
I finished the other two passages with 30 min to go for piano.
Seriously, its not bad at all. Just gotta think a little bout the questions they ask.

QR: CDM, kaplan online subj tests, destroyer

Im kinda happy with this score. I would say math is my weakest subject, and i ended up marking like 29 questions, no joke.
Okay maybe not 29 maybe like 20 but anways, I just marked the word problems and did the simple ones first, and went back and logically eliminated answers. You gotta be fast, its kinda tricky, but doable.

PAT: CDP, Achiever

I went from scoring 18s to 26s on CDP
however, the real DAT is a bit weird.
I would def say do Achiever PAT for keyholes, TFE, and pattern folding
CDP is good for holepunch, angles, and cube counting

Holepunch was weird, its like they cut on the line and yeah I cant explain but wutever

Practice scores:

Topscore 1
Bio 17
Chem 17
Ochem 18
PAT20
RC 22
QR 21

Topscore 2
Bio 18

Ochem 20

Topscore 3

Ochem 21

RC 23

Achiever 1
Bio Chem Ochem PA QR RC TS AA
19 16 18 18 17 19 18 17

Achiever 2
Bio Chem Ochem PA QR RC TS AA
17 17 18 18 19 17 18 18

Anyways, hard work def pays off.
I started the kaplan course June 25th, but dint really focus until middle of July. I would seriously do 10 hour days, and I started feelin unhealthy from eating and sitting down all the time.
Thats when I did p90 and I suggest working out for at least an hour while studying every day.

Week of the test was primarily review, and I started getting lazy.
The day before I just went to a coffee shop with some friends and jus chilled

Make sure you relax the day before, some ppl can go all out, some cant, but in my opinion, juss take it easy
One thing about the pract tests, I cant say theyre really representative of your scores cuz anything can happen. (for instance, my bio score and gchem score)

Also, you dont gotta stay in your house 24 7 and study 24 7.
Well I did this the last week, but during the summer, I went to pismo beach, went to the bars, played football basketball, and yeah
just use your time wisely and be effective with your studying
when your studying, make sure you study
its all about time management

Im just happy im not retaking this stuff again
Ill be able to apply next year when apps come out, which was my plan

GPA: 3.51, sci GPA: 3.4

Kinda wanna go to UOP, or anywhere in cali

and seriously, when your done, its a goodass feeling
Ill respond to messages when I get back to school next week
but goodluck and thank you for all the support

Sweeeeet, congrats! And you were all ants-in-the-pants about your practice scores 😀 gl when you apply. When that time comes, aim high

Also, /agree, that rogue hole punch problem is a 😕 moment

can you help in specifying which hyperlearning book you found useful? I did a search on amazon.com but there's A LOT of different ones...

princeton review MCAT hyperlearning
physical sciences (physics and genchem)

and biological sciences (bio and ochem)

theyre kinda hard to find
i might be selling my books online, but i have a friend wanting them but ill let you know

Great job!!! I was waiting for your scores. Just remembered it was the 18th so I got on here just to see your scores!! Congrats and relax...

great scores!

so do you recommend achiever? My test is in less than two weeks...
How is the science section in achiever as compared to the real thing?

achiever is kinda hard for the sciences, but i would say bio is good practice
but use achieveer for PAT and reading

lol doc u were rite bout math

lol, did you get back to any of those questions that you marked? I was thinking that I told you something that I thought would really help you but I couldn't remember 🙄

Congrats again man, have some fun! 🙂

CONGRATS SOOOSHI ! You nailed it! Enjoy your golden ticket into dental school . You got the same scores as me!

Did you practice S&D with your practice tests as well?

At what point did you realize that S&D will work or will not work on the test???

yea i tried different things

kaplans method was kinda too long

i tried another where i wrote the topic sentence of each paragraph on my paper
but i ended up stopping the method cuz i ended up not using my paper

so i jus did search and destroy

and from all the hype about piano, i knew i would have to read the whole passage

Congrats on your score! So, you took the Kaplan prep class right? Is taking it a must? I'm hesitant because of the money..
