Hey guys,
I just finished taking my dats, and I didnt do so well on RC. I was wondering if I should retake the exam and try for a better score. Im probably going to apply next year in April and would like to have your input. I honestly don't want to take the exam again, but if I have to or if it will increase my chances of getting into schools, I will retake it. My science gpa is a 3.3 and my overall gpa is a 3.5. Thank you!!

i'm sure no1 wants to retake the test, if they do then... CRAZY! but i think u'd be happier with a higher score in rc along with the univ u apply to. pat and rc u can definitely bring up, even just a point or 2 would make a difference!

Many schools have a 17 cutoff for RC, so it would be best to retake unless you're comfortable applying ONLY to schools without that cutoff score. It's awful to have to go through the entire process again, but I think it'd be well worth the effort.

It might be a good idea to retake it, but yeah... if your RC were a 17+, then I would advise against retaking it, considering the fact that your other scores are quite good.

We have similar DAT scores. It seems from the SDN community that an AA of 20 and TS of 22 is competitive. The only issue is your RC score. In some schools it is below the cut off. If you were to get a 17 or even 18 then I would not advise a retake. But, in this case it would be wise to retake if you know you can do better. I heard of people with RC scores of 16 who got in. So I guess you have to decide whether you should retake.

Best of luck!

As an aside, what were your passages on?

I would not rush into a RETAKE..personally. Instead I would apply on the first day the application opens...There are so many people that are getting interviews with 16 RC, and high GPA's...The best thing you can do is get all A's this year in your classes! GL on your decsions

Everything else is great, except for the RC. You don't want to risk it and be sorry for not getting in. You have plenty of time, and you already proven to yourself that you can do 22 TS, which means your AA could have been 21+.
Ultimately It's your call, but I would just retake and feel secure than feel insecure for the whole app process next year.

I believe i saw on a different post possibly on the Predental forum that someone got interviews with a 16 in RC

the thread is titled= Has anyone with a 14 QR heard from any schools?

and the post read
3 interviews so far
go 16 RC lol

so dont be so quick to decide if you have an impressive resume you can very possibly get interviews, I know its not the same thing but i have a 16 in QR and a lower AA and i have just received an interview to NOVA

i'm sure they're other stats make up for it though?

Congrats on your scores!! DO NOT retake, my friend got RC 16 and got accepted everywhere!

Hey, my stat is 21AA, 23TS, 24PAT, but 15 rc (ouch) with 3.87sci. I got two interviews so far. I think you should focus on ec and get all A's this year to raise up your gpa.
