First of all I would like to take an opportunity to thank Dr Jim Romano and Nancy Steen for their superior teaching and support!!!

Here’s my breakdown:

Undergraduate: GPA 3.4
Graduate Science GPA 3.6

I am not good w/ multiple choice. The schools that I went to had little or no multiple choice. So I had to practice a little more than others. Plus I haven’t had Ochem and Gchem in the past 5 years. So had to learn everything from the beginning.
English is my second language and I’ve been living in USA for only 9 years.

I took a prep. course w/ Dr. Jim Romano. If you guys are in the proximity of NJ, NY, I highly recommend taking his DAT class.

Studied 2.5 month, about 4-7 hours per day.

Took DAT on 09/30/08 in Clark NJ. Testing room was good. During picture and finger printing I asked the lady to give me a window seat facing the wall. They gave me two laminated sheets of paper, eraser and 3 black markers.

.........1st DAT......... 2nd DAT (Prep class)
Bio...........17 .................19
Gchem..... 17................. 20
Orgo........ 17................. 21
Math........ 17................. 16 🙂confused🙂
Reading.... 17................. 17
Perceptual. 24................ 21

Bio:
It was the hardest section to prepare for. Had random questions: embryology, plants, human physiology, animal kingdoms, hardy-weinberg, immunology, endocrinology, had 2 slides. Most questions were lengthy, 2, 3 or 4 lines long.
Books used: AP Bio Cliffs, Destroyer, Kaplan Blue Book.
Outside sources: Wikipedia
Tips: prepared index cards of the Destroyer questions and detailed answers in the back; memorized explanations and answers.
Real Test: 10-15 questions came from Destroyer. About 4 questions from AP Bio Cliffs.

Gchem:
Books used: Destroyer. Examcrackers 1001 questions in GChem
Tips: Make sure you know all types of problems from Destroyer.
Real Test: Similar problems from Destroyer. Had about 7 word problems with calculations, the rest were concepts.

OChem:
Books used: Destroyer. Examcrackers 1001 questions in OChem
Tips: prepared index cards w/ reactions and concepts. Make sure you know all types of problems from Destroyer plus practice w/ HNMR, C13NMR, IR.
Real Test: similar to Destroyer. 3 or 4 reaction pathways where you add 4 components to the original molecule. Plus questions on HNMR, C13NMR, IR

PAT:
Tips: very similar to CrackPAT ( I was getting on average 20’s).
Real Test: Hole punching easier than Crack;
angles, cube counting is similar to Crack;
folding is harder than Crack

Math:
Real Test was harder than CrackMath ( I was getting on average 18’s).
Real Test: My test version had few equations, mostly word problems. It was hard to solve problems w/ erasable markers.
Tips: CrackMath is good for timing, skipping questions…… know trigonometry well, laws of sines and cosines, ellipses, similar triangles, combined work, probabilities, multiple percents, rates, areas, volumes, all types of graphs, conversion factors. Practice w/ erasable markers!!!

Reading:
Method Used: 1) wrote few words about each paragraph, mostly key words
2) Search and Destroy method
Topics: Floating Bridges, Embryology (had little to do w/ embryology), Spinal Cord (very detailed)
Real Test: run out of time

Overall: I am satisfied w/ my scores except for math. I improved my scores in sciences by 2-4 points. I think i have a chance 🙄

nice improvement!

i have a feeling that we had exact same test versions...i thought i was going to get a 15 on RC. spinal cord passage was WAY too detailed and overall, RC had about 10 tone questions. 😡

oh yeah ... i got the killer spinal cord passage, "WAY too detailed" might be an understatement.

since i have a piano background, i wish, i could get a piano passage instead of detailed spinal cord....🙂.... I spent so much time looking for answers. When i reached my 3rd passage ( floating bridges) i had 8 minutes left. I prepared for this passage since so many people on SDN were talking about it. So basically i guessed 1/3 of my RC
