I havent taken the DAT yet but from what I've read and researched so far, I would highly recommend you doing a retake. Do some searching on this site. There are lots of material out there to help you study for the DAT.

I would say retake...Marq. has an average DAT of 18.5 and 3.4-3.5 gpa. Minn. has even higher stats.
I understand Eng. majors always have it tough, but it is a lot about the numbers.
You don't NEED the Kaplan class. Some suggested materials: Kaplan Bluebook (about 50$), AP Cliffs Bio (10$), DAT Destroyer (150$, everyone says it is great), and Crack DAT PAT (100$). That is a total of a little over 300$. If you find that you NEED more questions then Kaplan online is about 500$ and has loads of good practice questions.

Good luck

I would say it would be better if you took the time to retake. But make sure you are ready when you do. Getting into dental school is competitive, and a lot of schools have cut-offs for DAT scores that don't really drop below 16... at the lowest... I'm sure you can improve once you study. If you don't mind my asking, how did you prepare the first time around?

retake is a must. my scores was higher then yours (AA18 TS21 PA17) first time I took it and got NO interviews.

an engineer? tough program but what happened with QR? not being mean but just wondering

definitely retake. I am in the same/worse boat as you in terms of GPA and I am shooting for the moon on DAT to prove that GPA means **** when it comes to standardizations 😀

americanpig u have awesome scores

any interviews? i hope you get one 🙁 it will give me some hope 😛

I know the head adcomm member at MN and if I showed her these scores she would say retake.

I have heard of people, however, who are residents of MN who get in with 16s and 17s. MN loves its state residents and really gives them slack especially if they attend UMN TC campus.

This is a fact. Out of the 96 students attending MN this year, 58 came from schools within MN. Here's the ridiculous part. Out of all the schools in MN, 23 of the 58 came from UMN-TC. Twenty-fricking three!!!
