Hi,

I have mixed feelings over my scores. Should I consider a retake? Any advice will be appreciated.

Overall GPA 3.85
Science GPA 3.83

Bio 20
GChem 24
OChem 21
RC 16
QR 18
PAT 24

I scored 21-22 on prep RC(Kaplan, Topscore). I am very shocked by this score on my actual test today. My passages were about cell communication, piano, and aspirin.

:luck:to all~

You should consider it. 16 on RC might be too low so call schools that are important to you and ask them what they think. Some will tell you it is ok. Some will not.

Great job. I wouldn't worry too much..but call the schools directly because only they know. BTW in my opinion both Kaplan and Topscore are very easy and you can't always compare them to the DAT for QR, RC, and PAT. Just my two cents. I had a similar experience as well.

Here is my opinion,

Obviously ur not a stupid person, and from ur GPA, ur a hard working student, if the adcoms of a specific school decide to reject just because of that 16, then I say the hell with them, u don't wanna go to that school anyways

Honestly, I dunno what the big deal about RC is, in dental school, no one is going to give you material to study and say "u only have 3 hrs to study"... I mean yeh some of us read and comprehent fast as hell and can do it in that 3 hrs but some of us are slow readers (we could be smart as hell but just slow readers), and all that means is we have to spend more than 3 hrs (say 5), which eventually leads us to do better time management with our daily activities,

I would contact all ur schools and see what they say

Thank you all for your responses.🙂 I have decided to retake it in Jan to improve my RC score. This is really painful. whew...

By the way, I used the ordinary stuff.

Bio: Kaplan, Cliff AP bio, Destroyer
OChem and GChem : Kaplan, ACS, MCAT Exam cracker 1001, Destroyer
PAT: CDP 5 tests
Reading: Kaplan, Topscore
Math: some CDM

Dude, honestly; you shouldn't take it again because with your scores you will kick @$$! and with your gpa, you are more than set! I think you will only waste your time just for reading. Furthermore, I have heard from many people that the reading is not taken as seriously in dental schools as the sciences, and you owed it in the sciences so; if I was you, I wouldn't waste my time and money. Rethink your decision and really analyze your score with other people here.

I don't think you should retake it either. I have 16 myself and 50% of the school I applied to already gave me interview, and I think it's not all over yet. My GPA is a bit highter than yours, 3.97, but I think most of the schools realize that 4 years of hard work tells much more about you, than just one hour sitting for that reading comprehention. Just my 0.02$
