Hey, figured I'd make one of these just for fun.

PA 19 69.4 🙁

QR 26 99.8
RC 23 96.1
AA 23 99.7

BIO 20 91.8
GC 24 98.0
OC 20 84.4
TS 21 96.2

PA I'm really unhappy about. I was scoring a solid set of 21's on CDP, 22 on test 9 and 25 on test 10. Got 22 on TS PA 1. In my defense I will say that the fire alarm went off in the middle of the TFE, but then I should have been wearing earplugs, so... whatever?

The official PA test looked significantly different from other PA tests, including CDP, Kaplan, Barron's, and TS - enough to throw me off, which probably accounted for the lost point or two. So be prepared for a test that does not look nearly as nice or clean as CDP, and a computer which may lag between screens (resulting in around 1-2 minutes less than what you actually thought you had)!

Bio: Contrary to what I'd been led to believe, I personally didn't find Cliff's to be particularly relevant. There were one or two questions on phylum characteristics (annelida arthropoda etc), and a lot on random things I learned in class from ages ago. Experimental design seemed to factor heavily into my test.

Sources: Kaplan, Cliff's, DAT Destroyer 2008

GC: They really don't throw any tricks at you. I thought this was going to be my weakest, but it turned out okay. Just know the concepts very well, memorize every equation you see, and be able to do basic calculations, and you'll get through it.

Sources: DAT Destroyer 2008, Kaplan, Exam Krackers MCAT Genchem

OC: this section was very difficult for me. I had 3 or 4 NMR/IR-related questions, so definitely make sure you've got the functional groups memorized cold... I'm pretty sure I ate 3 IR questions, which probably explains the 20.

Sources: DAT Destroyer 2008, Kaplan

RC: Search and destroy method works great. Just remember they're not trying to trick you - a lot of the times the answer is right there, almost word-for-word, on the test.

QR: Very random section, but my again, I can't advise, since I didn't really prep for this one. Had a blend of 'how many hours to paint the fence', trig identities, and basic geo.

So... comments are of course very welcomed. Also, not to be a paranoid freak, but are there any schools where my 19 PA is going to raise a huge red flag?

Edit: Oh, also, I heard that these are "rough" scores? Is there a chance that my 'actual' scores may fluctuate from these numbers?

Great scores!! I think with a high AA like that, you shouldn't have to worry about an avg. PAT. If you are worried, call the schools. I wouldn't worry though.

I don't see why you're worried about your PAT score. It's not the highest score out there, but it's not the worst either. You should be happy with your scores.
You're actual score will more than likely (99.99%) be the same.

I just took my test on Sunday, and I have to say I agree with you on the PAT. I was scoring 25's and 26's very consistently on practice tests, but found the angle ranking to be much, much harder. I still ended up with a 22, but was really thrown off by it.

Also, you're dead on about the RC, QR, and Gen Chem.

As for Bio, there were more ecology and plant questions than I expected, but nothing that I hadn't ever seen before.

Ochem, my questions were heavily weighted in ortho/meta/para questions.

I used very similar resources: Kaplan (2009 book only; great for outlining what to study...but you definitely need to have other resources to go into greater depth), Destroyer (2009; only use this to test your knowledge), Exam Krackers for Chem, Princeton Review (I used MCAT just because it was available in our school's prehealth library)

Bio: 24
GChem: 16😕
OChem: 23
QR: 17
RC: 23
PAT: 22

TS: 20
AA:21

Congrats, and good luck with your application!

Hope this helps anyone who is just starting to study.
