Hi SDN,
Just came back from prometric center ... and i am kinda of depressed, didnt do too hot.

Breakdown...

PAT 17
QR 15 (i know ... i got raped)
RC 18
Bio 19
GC 18
OC 20

Total Science 19
Academi Average 18

I'm a junior w/ a GPA = 3.9 , really strong extra curricular's (volunteering, internships, work @ Dental office, leadership positions @ my uni. ) ...

I feel like my scores are neither good or bad ... but what do you think?
Should I take it again or not ? (probably ... cuz of PAT n QR)

Thanks for looking

Q) When is a good time to study for the test again ...

next winter break or summer ?

Q) Do you think I should apply and later send my 2nd scores ?

If i give it next summer , by what date should I give it to still be a competetive applicant

do you want to apply this year? or next?

If this year, I'd say go for it. forget about the retake and just go for it.

If next year, I'd suggest a retake, the topic might come up as to why ur DAT doesn't reflect your high GPA when you had a whole year to think about a retake... this is just my opinion and its not based on any real facts

Thanks for replies everyone ...

I will be a junior in the upcoming summer so I will apply NEXT year . And I agree with the comments that I probably wouldn't have a good answer for why I didnt do a retake.

I will probably have to do the DAT again but WHEN should I give it ... for some reason winter break doesnt seem long enough to study for it.

any thoughts on that ?

IMO, I say study math and PAT throughout the year and then apply early and take at the end of summer.

This way you have a solid 2-3 months to do nothing but study and do it right.

I know plenty of people that got in with a 17 PAT and a range of 16-19 QR...

You have a great GPA so keep that high in the upper divisions. Definitely retake and if you have to, study for 2-4 months with the right materials.

Improve upon Bio (20+), RC (19+), PAT (Get CDP), and get Math Destroyer for QR.

again thanks everyone for replies and advice.... I really like doctorpete's advice... in fact thats my exact gameplan (do a cdp pat test like once a week if i feel like it ... for ex today's friday so I'll do p t # 1 ) ,and MAth destroyer (the next week or something like that) . ...

I know my dat scores dont match up w/ my GPA but it's all good ... I'm gona "do it right" 2nd time and beast the shiznit out of it. ..

again thx sdn

Buy the royal flush edition and become a beast at angles, hole punching, and cube counting!!

And if u did like 20 math problems a day (before your 2-3 month intense study period) in tandem with the pat you will wreck the dat qr by the time you take it.
