Well I finally did it. I only had 4 weeks to prepare because of school. I didn't get a chance to use kaplan, topscore etc. due to no time. I only had time to study DESTROYER and Crack DAT PAT. Those are the scores, however I need an opinion if I will need to retake DATs since I screwed up the reading. I didn't prepare for reading, I focused more on the sciences since those are the ones that scare people the most. However I thought that they were pretty basic if you understand Destroyer. I have no idea about Kaplan or the other books that are out there since I never even looked at them.

PAT: 21 (I also found 4 mistakes in it which made me very angry)
Math: 17
Read: 12
Bio: 20
Chem: 21
Orgo: 23
TSci: 21
Aca: 19

Since my reading is so low it lowered my academic score too. I don't know what to do. I don't want to retake the DATs just for reading part. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Call up schools that you plan to apply to and ask them. A 12 is in many school's cutoff for RC.

As much as retaking for one section is gonna suck, you really need to...even at schools without DAT section cutoffs, that 12 is going to be a big turn-off. At least you took it early enough to have plenty of time to study hard and retake!

I would strongly reccomend a retake. Your science and PAT scores are good, your QR is mehh, but your RC will prevent you from getting an interview at most schools despite your solid performance in the sciences and perceptual ability.

I know it sucks, but if you submit it as is you are going to not make the minimum cutoffs at most schools and will probably be automatically screened out of the admissions process. At the end of the day its not what you think about your DAT scores, its about what the ADCOMs will think.

i would recommend a retake as well because the RC section is considered to be pretty important by most schools. and a 12 is really low. Best of Luck

I think you did pretty good job but I have to go with the other guys above...
I would definitely retake the DAT... I know it sucks...

I have seen many guys getting into D-schools w/ 14 or even 13 on math section (if the rest scores are consistant) but if it's RC, it is a whole different story.

AWESOME SCIENCE SCORES! sorry about the retake though. at least its not the hardest section to bring up, just keep up with your sciences and you should be good. good luck studying.

Actually that and QR are the hardest sections to raise. Sciences just require studying.

Yeah, I'm with you, RC doesn't seem like a section you could drastically improve very quickly. I would try reading a lot of boring scientific papers before the retake and do some practice tests.

I agree ...

For RC, I would just practice different methods. Get a bunch of practice tests and try different ways of going through it until you nail it. When I took my Kaplan Diagnostic in October, I scored a 15 in RC and over the course of my studying in December and January (only focused on RC for a handful of days) I managed to raise it to my highest section on the real thing, a 24. I personally thing RC is the easiest section to raise because it's all about finding a comfortable way to answer the questions.

Great science scores!🙂 Try using Examkrackers 101 passages! It was really good practice for me before I took the DAT.

If you decide to take it again, try using Princeton Review MCAT Hyper Learning Verbal Reasoning. They provide great methods on approaching the verbal section. Pretty much cover every possible situation. Good Luck!

Wow congrads on science scores 🙂 Very impressive!!! You can tell that you had little time to prepare for the reading but I am sure you'll do great the next time. Good luck and once more great job :luck:

Yep you're taking this mother again. RC is very important. I think its the score that most correlates with NRBE 1 scores, correct me if i'm wrong

Thank you all for the advice. I guess I have 3 months to prepare and retake it. Crap.... this is really annoying. Well, good luck to all of you in the pursuit of your dental dreams.
