I took my DAT today and I did so horrible. I studied as much as I can and gave it my all and once I saw my score, I was upset. After talking to some friends and admission counselors, I have decided that I am going to wait the three months and retake the exam in July. Hopefully, I will do much better and achieve a better score. I think it all had to do with my study habits. Any suggestions that you guys have for me let me know because I just do not know what I should do if I don't recieve a better score the next time. I would tell you my scores but I am just too embarassed to say.

The DAT is not all that difficult. Buckle down and study long and hard. Get the basics down solid and you should do fine. Think of your first DAT as a trial run.

check out my DAT STORY ... i did horrible the first time and retook ... it can be done

I agree, it can be done you need to focus on your weaknesses. Well maybe you can switch up your resources. Kaplan BB is good because it provides a lot of information, once you have a general knowledge of the sciences I recommend you do problems in the Destroyer. Destroyer is a great tool and is very representable of how the exam is. Go over all the questions, and if you dont understand reread Kaplan or textbooks. Also Topscore is a great tool with managing time and the more problems the better. For PAT, CDP is really good. Hope this helps, dont be too hard on yourself and best of luck on the retake!

you need to provide more information if you want any useful responses that are directed at your particular situation. what did you determine was wrong with your study habits? what were your scores? both of those are very important

Hey buddy, don't worry!!! You can do it!! I know exactly how you feel after taking the DAT for the first time and did REALLY bad. I felt terrible and actually cried after I saw my score (Yes I cried and I'm not asham to admit that fact.) Hey you know what? I bounced back and retook my DAT and got a 19TS 20AA 21PAT the 2nd time!!! Keep working hard and you'll make it!! Best of luck on your retake, I hope I'll see another one of your post in July with a 20 DAT scores

don't worry too much about your scores, they are more of a reality check, don't get depressed. i took the dat three times!!!! but this year i got accepted to four schools. i did so bad the first time, the second time, a little better but was tight on time because i was taking classes too. the third time, i took three months, quit work, dropped my summer class, and i studied dat, got great scores. the first thing you need to do is to find what you did wrong, is it your study technique, the material, or just short on time? do you have the basics down? start with kaplan book, memorize and understand everything, move to destroyer, and odesey then to practive exams.. don't worry too much, depression will make you do worse. relax, focus and you will do better next time. 🙂)

Some people just aren't great test takers, hopefully you can improve your score and back that up with a good Gpa!

you dont need to be a genius to do well on the DAT. Either you didn't study hard enough or didnt concentrate when you were studying. Fix those and you will do well.
