I took my DAT the other day and was disappointed with my scores.
PA: 16
QR: 14 😡
RC: 19
Bio: 20
GC: 18
OC: 17
TS: 18
AA: 18

I have a 3.65 GPA and a 3.6 science GPA. I have great ECs--research (over 1000 hours), shadowing (over 500 hours), volunteer work, published in a scientific journal etc.
I've already submitted my app online and just need to send out my DAT scores.
Would it be best to send these scores out or wait until mid-september to retake???

nice score,

i would not worry about qr too much

and i think you can get in with those kick ass ec.

you wanted to become a researcher or something?

1000 hours and publishing. those are great.

also, what material did you use?

did you use topscore? if then could you put up scores?

thanks

good job. at least its over. your DAT score is avg. at best but you seem to be excellent in other areas. So I would just roll with it and see how it goes.

I would first recommend scheduling a retake.

Then, just go ahead and send the current scores out. When new scores roll in during September, send them out again to replace the old ones.

👍 I wish I had done the same last year....

A 14 QR and 16 PAT are big red flags. I know some schools have cutoffs at 16/17 for every category and 14 is much lower than that. EC's can only save you if your GPA and DAT are average. With those 2 low sections I would say definitely retake.

Your scores are almost identical to what I got. I called up the adcomms at a few schools and they recommend that I retake it, and raise the PAT and QR score a couple points each. Everything else looks good though.

I agree with the last comment. you DO NEED to retake it. There is no way you can get in with a 16 in PAT and 14 in QR. Get some practice material, work really hard on all subject for 3 months, and retake it in SEP. I'm no sure if you should submit the first ones or not, But I'm sure you won't get anywhere with those 14 and 16, no matter you have 1 million research hours.
Good luck In Sep!
