While I did not do as well as a lot of people on here I did do better than last year.
Last Years Scores:
AA:18 TS:19 PAT:15
This years Scores:
Bio:18 GC:22 OC: 23 TS:21
PAT:18
QR: 16 🙁
RC:18
AA:19
If you guys could let me know what you think. I applied to mostly private schools. Thanks! 🙂 Oh gpa:3.4 sgpa 3.2? (I dont remember)
Breakdown:
Bio: It really was not hard I just studied all the wrong things. I read the entire campbells bio book so my topscore Bio scores (20/21/20) were really inflated compared to the real DAT. Like others have said I would recommend just learning the basics since a lot of the simple stuff I could not recall for the life of me.
GC: I used destroyer/kaplan/topscore. I wrote down every question from destroyer made a packet of notes next to how to do each question/ extra conceptual information about the question and reviewed it every night for two weeks. So I guess that means I ran through Destroyer quite a few times. My version of the test you had to do all the calculations I think only one was set up. Topscore(20/21/21)
OC: I first read my entire orgo book (Carey) which im pretty positive I never did during class..which could explain the low grades. I took notes and then I started destroyer. I did the same thing as GC by making packets and reviewing. I had an IR and HNMR problem but taking analytical chem helped with that. Topscore (16/20/21)
PAT: I'm PAT imparied. I got the 10 test CDP and worked on it every night. I went from getting 16-22 with a bunch of 19s in the middle. Everything seemed comparable and the angles on my screen were huge so it made that part a little easier. I used to get a 6 on hole punches but after using the 'grid' method i was getting them all right. Also I've heard test 6 of CDP is most like the test, I got a 21 so maybe on the real DAT I just made some stupid mistakes.
QR: I studied using a GRE kaplan book it had tons of word problems. I choked on the real test it was really easy. I had short word problems and not too many conversions. The numbers also if set up divided out easily for the most part. My version also had a lot of trig. I memorized a sin/cos/tan table and a few identities but I still couldnt get some of those. (Topscore 19/19/21)
RC: Last year i got a 20(piano) this year an 18. Probably looks bad. I got the bridges test. Was not bad content wise pretty interesting, but the questions were multi-part which took a long time to answer. The other two passages I forget what they were about but S&D worked for most of the questions. I kinda wish I skipped the bridges and came back to it.
Sorry that was long. Just wanted to give back hopefully you can learn from my mistakes. 🙂
I think being nervous worked agaisnt me. At one point during QR my hand was shaking because I had to do 10 more probs in 10 mins.
