I'm not looking to get into Harvard but will any school take me with a 15 on PA? On the practice tests I was consistently getting 18-20 on the PA. Advice? GPA 3.6, Sci GPA 3.5 40 hours of shadowing, thousands of hours of volunteer work, research, etc.

Am I screwed by my PA score? Honest answers only please.

if thats my score and if you're going to apply to the same school as i am then i wouldn't retake it...

I have to wait 3 months before retaking, crap I'm going to have to keep up on my science studying as well I guess for the next 3 months. This is going to suck. :meanie::meanie::meanie:

So if I retake in September, hopefully I can squeak out a new PA score in time for interviews (if I even get any). I am so mad at myself right now.

What were you using for PAT? CDP? Topscore? Kaplan?

Kaplan. The PAT was the easiest section for me during the practice tests, so much so that I haven't looked at it in several weeks and focused on my sciences. I used Kaplan and it helped a lot but I was *****ic and didn't bother doing a PAT practice test in over a month. I did not have a steady pace going and screwed up on the cube counting several times, cube counting!! Those are supposed to be easy points. I am so frustrated with myself right now. I can't really blame Kaplan, it was my own doing.

Perceptual ability is one of the most important things they look for I would say that unfortunately you might have to retake.

ugh. that's frustrating. but haven't you read all over this thing that kaplan's pat section is much easier than the real thing? you might wanna bite the bullet and invest that extra $200 in cdp. good luck!

I love Kaplan on everything EXCEPT PAT...

Kaplan PAT is useless in fact its beyond useless, its harmful. It under prepares you and makes you over confident.

Def invest in crack DAT PAT.

I made the same mistake and got a 17 on PAT because I was getting 22-23s on practice tests so I didn't think twice. Kaplans other stuff is OUTSTANDING esp for the sciences. But for PAT you best invest in another study aid.

All your other scores look pretty solid, how'd you study?? I would say the decision is ultimately yours, and if you do plan on retaking I'd recommend CDP. Your best bet is to try calling the schools your interested in to see if they have a cutoff, best of luck!

Yeah I agree, Kaplan's PAT is soo easy. I got a 20 on the actual PAT without buying CDP. I used Kaplan just to develop a strategy for each part of the PAT and then practiced with Topscore. Topscore is actually very good practice. I was scoring 17-19 on it.

Sorry to inform you, but you need to retake! 15 PAT is very low score. If you repeat all other sections, and bring up you PAT at least 18 ( 17s are OK (lowest possible) for all other sections) you are good to go. I think 3 months later you will kill the test. Good luck!

I really have to disagree with some of these posts. Here is my reasoning: I have explicitly heard someone from the admin committee say that the "PAT really doesn't matter much to us at all" , and then continued to say that that was the consensus for the schools in Texas. Essentially, they don't care too much for the PAT at all in TX. I would also estimate that this COULD be the case at some other schools. I know that some schools do consider PAT very important, but if I were you, I would go ahead and find out which schools place a high value on PAT and which don't, then find out where you want to apply.

Personally, I think you scores are good besides PAT. I think this one will come down to school attitude towards PAT, and if they value it highly, then you don't have a chance.
