Hey everyone,

So I finally took my DAT on 7/12/2011 and I finally decided to join sdn since I'm basically reading threads all the time on this site. Anyways, I don't think I did so hot on the DAT 🙁 even though I studied for 2 months (11 hours a day!) I felt like I was going to do much better and I was truly shocked to see my scores at the end of my test. I found the genchem section to be the hardest and I think somebody was really trying to screw me over (since I knew the destroyer gen chem section inside out and can basically solve and understand each and every problem in that book)... anyways that's not the point. I was hoping I can get some input on what you guys think my chances are in getting accepted to dental school this year. My DAT scores are:
PAT: 17 (BARELY practiced 🙁 had too little time. I regret it big time)
QR: 17 (did not study for what-so-ever!)
RC: 17
Biology: 19
GenChem: 18 (SO MAD! this was my strongest point in all my practice tests)
Ochem: 19

TS: 19
AA: 18

I have already submitted my application and the schools are just waiting on my DAT score which should be sent to them by next week.

I have applied to 13 schools.
My gpa is: 3.96
I have approximately 130 shadowing hours (one orthodontist, one general dentist, and one pediatric)

I really hope some of you with experience reply and let me know what you think of my overall package. Thank you! 😳

Since your GPA is so high, I think you will be alright. I know a ton of people on here post scores that are AA 22+ and it can be intimidating, but if you go through the ADEA book you will see that the average DAT for most dental schools is around 18-19. I have faith that you will land a few interviews 🙂 Where all did you apply to?

You def have a chance! You will have interviews, and I'm sure they will ask you why your DAT doesn't represent your GPA, and they just wanna see how you answer it, although your scores are not terrible! So I think it comes down to how you handle your interviews! You'll be fine.
