Hi Everyone, first of all thanks to all the members of sdn who posted their breakdowns and suggestions.My GPA is 3.67 and science GPA is probably the same if not higher because I do good in sciences, not so great in english. Below are my scores, I was just wondering if I have a chance to get in. I really dont want to take the dat again but might if i have to.
Bio: 22 (97.6)
Gen Chem: 23(97.3)
O Chem: 19 (75.7)
PAT: 17 (42.4)
RC : 17 (35.7)
QR: 16 (65.3)
TS : 21 (96.2)
AA: 19 (85.4)

I think a retake is in order unfortunately. A lone 16 or 17 might be manageable, but three is too many in my opinion. You're clearly a smart guy with that GPA.

Your sciences are good. Your PAT, RC and QR could use some improvement. Try get those 3 sections up to at least 19's or 20's.

I got in with similar scores. I would apply to many schools and see what happens. Do not take dat again unless u r 100% sure that you can get a better score than what u have now.

I think retake is necessary since you have 17 in RC and PAT. Also 16 in QR is not good. National average, acceptance is getting higher every year.. This year I think it is 19 in every section. Next year when you apply it might be 19.5 or something like that. You have enough time to retake.

Instead of apply to 20+ schools, you can study and retake the DAT and with good scores, you only need to apply to about 10 schools. That will pays off your application fees.

U got in with similar scores. that is amazing. English is my third language and I am not sure if I can get a higher scores than that, like I said before my GPA is 3.67 instead of above 3.9 because of english and theater which I did not even go to class. I was averaging 19 in CDP but the real PAT was alot tougher.I was doing fine on DAT destroyer but in real DAT I ran out of time. so if I have a chance, I would like to enjoy my summer instead of studying for 2 more months which is a nightmare for me. so please let me know where you applied, where you got in, and what else can I do to maximize my chances.

I know how you feel, English is my second language and reading comp was my lowest score. I am not considered under served minority FYI, I did not get in on December 1st, but I received 3 interviews prior to december out of ten I applied to. Again, if deep inside you you feel that u can do better then you should retake it but if you know that there is even a small chance that you would score any lower DO NOT retake take it. Also, you scored the average for overall score, and for those telling u that 16 will hurt u on math that is not true for most schools. Besides most schools cut off is a 17 on reading comprehension. U did good, if u don't get in its not going to be because of the 16 on math or 17 on reading. Apply early, write a good personal statement, good number of hours shadowing experience, volunteer a lot and good number of upper level science classes you should be ok if you lack any of aforementioned or they are not well articulated in your application that's when you start having problems.
