okay, so I took my DAT today. Not so happy with the scores, but I'm thinking of doing a retake.
AA - 18
TS - 18
PA - 19
My GPA is at about a 3.5 overall, science is a 3.4.
The Bio section was totally unexpected. There were questions that were being asked where i had no idea what the answer was. It was really basic stuff...I studied a lot for this section, and I think I may have gotten too specific in my study material.
The Chem was okay...a lot of questions about solutions and melting and boiling points. Very few about calculating molar mass and determining the structure of the molecule. I had a few of the free energy problems on my exam too.
The O Chem section was very in depth. There were a lot of mechanisms that I had to write out, because they were about 4-5 steps, so that took me awhile. There were also a few of the boiling point questions on here too...not really my strong point...I actually expected to do better in this section, I got a 19.
The Perceptual ability was not bad compared to what I was expecting. The hole punching was almost at the same level of difficulty as the topscore, except for the angle ranking. that was some weird stuff. I could have sworn that there were a few angles in the same problem that were exactly the same measure. The pattern folding has always been hard for me, not sure what to say there.
The reading comprehension and math sections were okay, I felt a little hurried in math, but I had a hard time concentrating because I knew my science didn't go as well as I had wanted it to. That was a bit distracting...
okay, so there it is...I want to retake it, but I'm not too sure if I should. What if I do the same or worse my second time around?
the study materials that I used were destroyer, kaplan and topscore...
I was doing pretty well on the topscore tests (my lowest were 22/23/20), but I think the nervousness and anxiety really screwed me up. The bio section scared the crap out of me, and I couldn't concentrate for the rest of the test.
