Hello,

I am finally done with it.

I am glad that it is over, but I don't know how I should feel about my score:

PAT: 24
QR: 19
RC: 16...
Bio: 22
GC: 21
OC: 20
TS: 21
AA: 20

I expected more from chemistries, but don't know what happened..

I am not sure if I need to retake b/c of the reading and my low gpa(~3.1).. I hate to retake =(
but please be honest with me.
Would I even get AN interview..?

Thank you all

Nice job ! Those are really good scores. The only really low score you have is your reading, which you have already addresed. Im still new to this site/inexperienced with the whole process, so I'm not sure whether you should retake or not. Overall, you did really well. Oh, would you mind sharing what study materials you used. Congratulations !

Look up the schools you plan on applying to and see if they have RC cutoffs (some won't accept you if your RC score is at a certain level).

Other than that, good scores.

Like the person above said, you should call the schools you are interested in to make sure the RC score is ok. Other than that nicely done.

Thank you all for your comments,

yes, the cut-off, which I am very worried about.. hoping that not all of them have the cut-off..

I used kaplan BB book, destryoer, Cliff AP Bio + Schaum's Biology, Campbell, Odyssey, topscore, and and achiever, mainly.

Oh, for PAT, crack PAT.

What are some good practice materials particularly for the VR part of the DAT? Thanks!

There is no verbal reasoning on the DAT. If you are referring to reading comprehension then I am not sure that there actually are any good sources out there that will help you improve.

i would retake. make that 16 to 18 or higher

Solid except for that RC ... like others have said schools requiring a minimum for each section might move your application to the no thanks pile right away ... I personally know that retaking sucks but sometimes its the best play. GL!

I got a 24 on reading comp on mine and I never even studied for the section (at least never intentionally studied for it). But what I did ALOT of in grad school was reading scientific papers.

Now if you've ever read a scientific paper they are basically designed to be very esoteric, boring, and hard to follow. They love to use tech terms and abbervations as much as possible with what seems the intention of flummoxing the reading.

I say you grab some papers and try to read and understad wtf the author was doing. If you can start to make sense of these then I think your reading comp score will improve.

Basically when you read a paper the introduction produces 50 new terms you have to hold in memory. Then the author makes up abbervations for each term so as your trying to read on you get a term like TNF-alpha or HIF-1. So you have to go back and find what that term means then read on. It causes you to have to take short notes on the paper and re-read certain areas to follow along esp the first few times you read a paper. Eventually you start getting really good at holding terms in memory as you fly through. Also it improves your seek and destroy as you get better at finding odd terms that you may have forgotten that you read 1 minute ago.

Read boring scientific papers to improve your reading comp score. Its like training in a pressure chamber for a running comp. You condition yourself to a higher standard then when you get something on the DAT its cake compared to a formal paper.
