My scores:

Pat: 20
QR: 20
Rc: 18
Bio: 24
Gchem: 24
Ochem:24

AA: 22
Ts: 23

My story: I am an international student who came to the US 5 years ago without knowing a word of English. I went to the CC since I finished high school overseas and did not have any SAT score! after 2 years I transferred to the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor with a gpa of 3.6.. The very first semester at UM while I was dealing with the transition from CC to such a hard university I lost my grand parents whom I've grown up with, this affected me a lot and caused me to get depression and seek medication, long story short , I got an F on organic chemistry that semester and that hurt my gpa alot so I started with a 2.0 gpa and after that I couldnt put myself togethere and I only could raise it to 2.5.
Now, I have a 2.5 gpa from UM and 3.6 gpa from CC. I planning to take some upper level science classes this coming year and prove myself that I can do it although I know it won't affect my gpa that much cuz I have alot of credits =( it just shows that I can handle the load of university!!
so what do you think of my chances? should I apply this cycle or not? I am really depressed plz help!!!

Good Job...DAT scores are really good.

GPA needs to be increase above 3.0 or else it ll be really tough.

How did you get a 18 for RC if you didn't know a word 5 years ago? Sorry, not to be rude but I seriously have doubt about what you said. Your DAT looks great tho (if those are the real scores), go ahead and apply to those who seek high DAT scores, i.e. UOP, Case etc

well apparently I've learned some English in 5 years 🙂 plus I've posted this to get some advise not to prove anything to you or anybody else! I am an honest person , I told you I've got an F in orgo and my gpa is as low as 2.5!! I could have lied about those too right?????( not trying to be rude tho )!!so why would I lie about my grades?

People learn things over a period of 5 years you know!
It's not like it's impossible to learn english in 5 years.

what? who is mooshkanom?
Long story about mooshkhanoom:laugh:
Search for a thread called "Are you kidding me?" if you're interested.
Anyways, I think your scores are good enough to get you in this year. You'll be a fool not to apply. However, don't be surprised if you don't hear from some of the top schools, because that GPA could complicate things a little.
Good Luck!!

the RQ doesn't necessarily require you know the best english in the world. its a matter of looking and the questions and trying to search the answer in the passage as fast as you could without losing accuracy.

as for applying to dental school, DO APPLY. i've already heard this straight out of the assistant dean of a dental school that having good DAT scores can help your low GPA. but the reverse isn't true. if you have a high GPA but low DAT scores, you're SOL and it looks fishy

Totally agree! I'm a fob.. and i managed to pull a 21 on RC.. and i got 370 in SAT verbal 5 years ago.. I think DAT reading is not so much about.. if u get what u're reading.. more of if u can look and find the answers in the right place.

I know for a fact it is possible. Immerse yourself in a culture and a language and you will learn a lot faster than you think!!

As far as your chances, I think you have a decent shot, especially considering your situation. I think you will get interviews, and I think your admission will depend heavily on how you interview, no pressure, lol.

Good luck.

370 SAT verbal is really high!
