I am not sure if i should retake b/c of my 16 RC. I got pianod like a mofo and i really found it to be as bad as everyone made it to be. I will give a full breakdown of everything i used and did after my canadian DAT (its gonna be a long post lol). Honest advice will be highly valued.

16 RC will overshadow a 23 TS and 20 AA. You need to re-take....

Posts like this will upset fellow SDNers. I understand your concern with a 16 RC and I think it was 15 QR, however, your science scores are 95%. You'd be crazy to take again.

So, I was joking about the re-take.

Personally I would be torn between retaking and not. On one hand you dominated the sciences. On the other hand you have sections that stand out. I think if you apply early you should have a good shot. However, I think you could repeat your performance on science and hopefully improve on RC. You could also raise your QR through more practice. With a 23 TS I would think you could get it again or somewhere around it. Your AA could definately move up from a 20. If you didn't use CDP for the PAT and got a 19 some more practice in that section with Crack Dat PAT would get you in the 20's.

If it was me and I had the time I would retake it. Cutoffs for certain schools can sit around 15-17. You would have to check the schools this holds true for. However, if you are swamped with school I would just hedge my bets and apply with these scores. Gluck.

If you are an international applicant I would strongly encourage you to retake.

In my opinion, there is no point to apply this year (even if u had 20 RC), its just too late

But next cycle, I'm talking earliest day like june 1st, u should apply and u have a VERY strong chance of gettin in.

Here is what I believe in, a 20 AA with 23 TS is not a score to be retaken, unless ur mind set is one of the ivys or one of the top ten

Good luck

Thanx guys for your advise. it truly helps.

Dentalworks,

thank you for your advise, but i believe a chance is too valuable to be wasted by not applying this year. I hope my Gpa (overall gpa: 3.97 sciGPA: 4.00), volunteer, and LORS will grant me some opportunities to interview despite my late application and low RC score.

IF ANYONE WAS OR IS IN MY SHOES, PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT MEASURES YOU TOOK AND HOW IT WORKED OUT FOR YOU.

congrats on the scores, what canadian school are you from? it seems canadians do really well on the DAT. I don't think you should retake, if you don't get in, i think the biggest problem is not your score, it'll be because you are Canadian, as an international student, admission to American schools are tougher.
Good luck in your application (i would apply this cycle!)

thanx for the advise WantVCUdental. I actually go to UofM, but there is truth about the canadian gunners. the university level is not much diff. from the states, but its the H.S. that prepares you. plus the lack of opportunities we have here in canada truly brings the beast out. Man i hear u about applying this year regardless, a few Gs lost is far less of a waist than a year lost. I just need a good technique for the RC for my canadian DATs specially since we get only 50 min for RC.

Canadian schools weigh a lot on gpa, with your numbers, you can pick any canadian school, i'd say go to a canadian school and save the money. and you are in-province at UofM isn't there a school in manitoba? you'll get in for sure.

and i agree with the "bringing out the beast" ha ha, i actually went to UofT and med/dental school students are just too beastly lol

I think you should consider a retake. The science scores are certainly reproducible, and theres almost a certain chance you'll get different reading passages. A 15 in any section is bad, but add a 16 RC to that and it looks very bad. Retake if you feel you need to, unless you felt that you guessed on 10+ question in the sciences and got them right through luck. if you felt the science section was easy, you'll easily score 20+ on each section again.

yo wantvcudentist, i just came across your breakdown thread and man we got similar scores on the same version lol. BTW I go to University of michigan not Manitoba, sorry about the ambiguity. what school do u go to? its pretty cool to see some Canadians (assuming u r) on this thread lol. man i think the best to do for our scores is to contact the schools and see what they say.

hey all

so I called many d-schools to see what they say about my RC and QR. Most schools said my score is good (michigan, creighton, NYU, marquite, buffalo, nevada, meharry, howard, UDM, and a few more that i cant remeber), but pacific and temple asked for a retake. wow i guess u really gotta be well rounded for these schools since a 98 percentile TS and a 4.0 does not overshadow weak areas. btw most schools didnt even look at QR and one lady told me bluntly that its BS.
