I took my first DAT and I got some really random questions. I didnt do as well as I wanted. I got a 19 TS and 19 PAT.

The study approach I took was:

Kaplan Online
Barron AP Chem
DAT Achiever
Campbell Reece Bio

I study for only 2.5 mths.

Any advice to do well on the second one? Is the 3 mths until the next test enough to do well?

Can I register in advance for the test? (And yes, I know I have to wait 3mths to take it again)

Whats your GPA? If your packing a 3.6/3.6 science, I think 19/19 with a super early application (early june) would get you some interviews.

19/19 on the DAT is pretty good, its average for many schools.

Yeh I read that thread.... Umm you said you don't wanna freak out and take post-bacc or year off, but Im sorry to tell you, being pre-dent is part-time student full-time freaking out. Hardships and competition is your enemy here.

Your gotta underestand that even if you bring your GPA to 3.2, its still lower than the national average when it comes to average acceptance GPA. I am not saying you woun't get in, im just saying there is that possibility you woun't get in, and you might have to take post-bacc.

But look at the bright side, apply this coming summer and see what happens. You have 3.2 GPA with 19 AA, and you might be an exceptional interviewee, so I say you have a shot. Good luck

Thanks; I want to retake the DAT; Should I go for the Topscore and any other material? If I do, would 3 mths be enough to study and improve my DAT score?

Im gonna copy/past something I wrote a few days back:

Well, with regards to reading, in my opinion, since you only have about 3 months till you take it, start working on the reading part now. If your reading is strong as-is, then don't worry too much about it.

with regards to MATH, I though DAT destoyer wasn't all that helpful but the MATH Destroyer was spot on. The MATH destroyer is a different book than DAT Destroyer, the MATH one has 10 math tests, each with 40 questions, if you master those 400 questions inside and out, your going to rock the math section of the DAT cause those questions from destroyer are, I swear Im gonna say 70-80% of them will show up with the same style just different numbers.

At this poing, you should buy DAT Destroyer, its very good for chemistry and orgo, Biology is pretty good too for some random facts that wouln't be covered in Kaplan Blue book nor Cliff's AP biology

with regards to biology, yehhhhhh this section sucks cause its SOOOO BROAD. But, I started with Kaplan blue book, and found it very poorly organized for biology. It lacked alot of details, however, it was still good as an introductory biology.
-Start with Kaplan blue book
-Read all of Cliff's AP biology (anywhere from 1-3 times)
-Supplement Cliff's AP bilogy + KBB with your biology test... I personally loved Biology by raven, I thought it was 100 times better than Cambell
-Finally do the biology section of DAT Destroyer atleast 2-3 times, take notes / highlight stuff

with regards to general chem, yeh nothing beats Kaplan blue book, spot on. Perfect review guide. When your done with Kaplan Blue book, go on and hit DAT Destroyer atleast 1-3 times for this section.

with regards to orgo, kaplan blue book is pretty good, but DAT Destroyer is key here. Master DAT Destroyer orgo section and you'll be hitting 20+ on the orgo section of the DAT

Finally, PAT, Crack DAT PAT is the king. Master those 10 tests and you should easily score 20+ on the PAT. by the way, the scores you get on the Crack DAT PAT (esspecially toward the last ones) will be a very good indicator of how you'll do on the real test "

What I just typed is what I used for my DAT. (AA21 / TS22 / PA20)

Thanks, I'll take your advice; Do you know if I can register for the DAT in advance and still fulfill their 3 mth requirement?

hmm, I dunno, I've never tried that. try regestering, Im pretty sure they have 3-month checks on your SSN within thier system. If the system blocks you out, then 🙁

If the 3-month thing does end up blocking you, its no big deal, wait till 3 months are up, and register the test few days after.

solid scores u shud be set....wat did you find the most useful for your exam specifically and how much did it help you
