I enjoyed reading everyone's posts about their experiences prior to my DAT, and I'd like to share mine as well. Taking the exam was very surreal. I couldn't believe I was taking my entrance exam and had to remind myself that it was the real deal throughout the test. My adrenaline was pumping pretty much the whole time, but especially during the PAT! If you tend to get nervous, be prepared for a pounding heart. Never the less I am so THRILLED with my results. I could not believe my eyes when my scores appeared! The weeks leading up to the DAT were so, so stressful. I just did my best to push through the fear and looked towards the finish line. Endure the struggle and don't give up!
I used TOPSCORE for practice. My scores were all lower then the DAT. Under 20 even. If you are making 19/20/21's on Topscore you'll be fine.
QR:
I was very nervous about the QR section because of how much I struggled with Math Destroyer. Using it to study was pretty discouraging but probably worth it. If you are using MD and find yourself doing poorly, try not to get down on yourself. The real DAT is definitely easier.
PAT:
Like I said this section was intense. The keyholes are more difficult than CDP, but I rushed through them because I always needed a lot of time for pattern folding during practice exams.
TFE: about the same as CDP
ANGLES: SO EASY! found myself wishing the whole PAT was angles
HOLE PUNCHES: easier than CDP. I struggled with this section for weeks, but the practice paid off.
CUBES: not harder but it was hard to adjust to the format of the real DAT.
PF: really strange shapes on DAT but none of the complicated patterns from CDP. I really struggled with those and was also very nervous about this section, but it was easier than CDP
BIO:
You are likely to see some questions from left field, just think through them.
I used Cliffs, Qvault and Destroyer. Also, if you've studied hard for your bio classes, it will pay off on the DAT.
GCHEM:
I used Chad's and Destroyer. Did Chad's quizzes once and Destroyer 2-3 times. Don't get discouraged by Destoyer. The first time through everything is really tough.
OCHEM: Chad's, Destroyer, QVAULT. Chad's quizzes twice and Destroyer 3X
RC. Used Qvault and Topscore. My scores were all over the place. This section is not difficult on the DAT, but the formatting makes the passages hard to read.
My advice? Study hard and don't stress! I probably took years of my life while studying for this thing. Try not to do that to yourself! Just do your best and give it a go. If it doesn't work out, c'est la vie.Best wishes to you all and good luck!!
