STudying for the DAT was hello on earth here are my scores...

I'm extremely happy with everything except for the Quantitative Reasoning!!! I just dont get how you can do so good on everything then bomb that part.. HOnestly i though i did better than a 15 but thats life.. I also studied for the whole Christmas break and I studied and average 8-10 hours everyday! it was painful haha

Biology: I read two different biology books. A huge tip of advice Do NOT waste your time reading the Kaplan book especially for Biology, Buy a biology book and read it over and over..

General Chemistry: i dont know what to say the questions were fairly simple..

OChem: I read my Ochem book and notes and i read some of the kaplan book

PAT i didnt practice it was really easy and kinda fun...

Quantitative reasoning is nuts i scored 19-22 on the topscore and Kaplan Mock Tests so i dont really know what to say there..

My scores were actually much higher than Topscore and the Kaplan practice tests, and my opinion is that they are harder but i think that is because they are worded poorly

My Topscore scores' were 19-20's ... the questions are worded totally different on the real DAT and i honestly dont know why i scored so low. I actually thought i did at least decent but i guess not... I would say dont worry too much about Trig, I had 3 questions and they were at an intermediate difficulty level..

There was only ONE tone/inference type question on the reading comprehension.. I was sooo hard to stay focused.. My articles were about the Crocidille Trigeminal nerve, Something about vision and Motion, and Fungus and their diseases... The question they asked me for tone was in the Vision and motion article and i honestly didnt even know what half of the words meant!! haha so i just picked one lol...

i have to retake the dat just b/c of my reading comp score on the first dat... i honestly dont know what i can do to make a better score..
ive been practicing reading alot, but its still not much of an improvement... on topscore RC i scored a 17 and a 19... on the real dat i got my ass kicked with a 15 an 8.9% but this was back in June.
well anyways congrats... im 99.9% sure you will get into a good dental school.

Well honestly i NEVER practice the reading.. just because i know that i hate that part! it is always soo boring! i would say stop practicing and just get your mind phsyched into "loving" the passage... I dont think their is a way to practice, the way i take the RC part is by first reading the actual question then readin the passage untill you get to the answer for that question then move on and go from there..

i would say DONT STRESS over it, that is when you will start to make mistakes... since it is the section right after break i would stretch or go out side and get some fresh air!! and breathe and pump urself up i guess you could say.. thats what i did and magically poof i got a 20

I have a 3.75 gpa and a 3.8 science gpa...

I have shadowed, volunteered, community service over 1000 hours easy... Basically anything you can imagine i have done..

You ask how i did i differ in my studying habits.... Well i studied my butt off!! i knew i wanted a good score so i had to sacrifice basically my social life... I read my biology book over and over again and i read over my Biochemistry and Molecular Cell biology class notes.. i read as much as possible from Basic Biology 101 to Biochemistry... I love Organic it was my favorite class so that basically came to me cause reactions are my thing haha.. and gen chem i hated... so i basically memorized ALL of the formulas and how to manipulate them i memorized the periodical table stuff and all the other crap including thermo and nuclear chemistry... 10-12 hours of studying my entire Winter break!!! i only got off for Christmas day... It is about sacrifice thats for sure you have to be willing and put ur mind to it and it will come!

Which book did you use to study Biology and Math?

to Mamona... I used Campbell's and Solomon for Biology... I studied my old SAT book from high school for the math and i took practice tests.. My math on my practice tests was 19-20's so i dont know how reliable those tests are for math.. I would definately say try to find a book filled with Word PRoblems because they definately tried to implement everything (geometry, algebra, etc) into stories..

I had that exact same reading comp my first time....I took it again this week and the reading was much harder this time around. I guess it's the luck of the draw as to how hard the reading is.

ya it is a luck of the draw because you dont know what your gonna get and you dont know what the questions are like... i know i could sit and try to study how to read because i would get so sick of it and then i think that would reflect on my score in RC..

Ya i am persian... but i didnt think anyone would understand me if i was speaking in farsi
