Hey, I just got back from taking my DAT. I am kind of happy about some sections and kind of dissapointed with other.

PAT - 18
QR - 18
RC - 25
Bio - 20
GC - 17
OC - 16
TS - 18
AA - 19

I hope the chemistry scores don't hurt me too bad. I knew that would be my weakest area.

What do you guys think? Do I have a chance? I will be happy to answer anyone's questions about the test.

yeah, your scores are rock solid. you will get in somewhere. it would be nice to have an extra point or two on your GC and OC... but your strong RC and PAT scores should help compensate.


I am curious how you tackled the reading section. I've always done poorly on standardized reading tests. I guess I need to know... what kind of plan do you go in with? Did you read the passages? Skim them? I don't understand how people can skim them and do well because the questions often ask for moods and themes and stuff.

Thanks for the compliment...I hope you are right about me getting in somewhere.

I read them all the way through, but faster than I normally read. And that gave me some idea about the topic of each paragraph. Then I started answering the questions from memory, and/or going back through the passage to find the answer. I marked the ones I wasn't real sure about, and went back and checked them after.

I applied at a bunch of schools just to be safe: LSU, Tenn, Arizona, Boston, Case, Creighton, Indiana, Marquette, NYU, Nova, Temple, Tufts, KC, Nebraska, Penn, and Pitt.
