I am aware that there is a plethora of threads on MCAT vs DAT, so I'm not posting to compare them.
I am a third year Canadian uni student who has good ECs and everything. I've taken the MCAT once and I have been and still am struggling with the CARS (verbal) section. I've recently been considering taking the DAT, but I would only have a little more than a month to prepare for it. I want to know if it's realistic for me to score well on it (for UBC). I've scored top 85% percentile in physical sciences, biological sciences, and behavioral sciences in the MCAT 2015.

Please don't comment on the two paths (dentist vs MDs, adcom having different requirements..etc). I'm solely focusing on "DAT for a previous MCAT taker".

Any input is appreciated 🙂

Noone knows how well you will score on the DAT. Take a practice test, see how you do and work on your weaknesses (whatever they are) to prepare for the real dat.

We have no idea how well you will do after taking a completely different test without any preparation for the actual test. If you work hard. And put in the required work, 4 weeks is enough to get a good score.

How can somebody not comment on the fact that you've taken the MCAT once and are considering taking it again? Seems like you're unsure of your path. I wouldn't consider taking the DAT just because it's an easier exam. If you want to go to med school, do well on the MCAT.

I took the MCAT as well and it is NOTHING like the DAT. You need to know a lot of factual information that isn't found anywhere on the MCAT (no passages to help you).

If you're planning on taking the US DAT, one month probably isn't enough time to study. There's simply too much material. The MCAT is a harder exam (there's no debate on that), but the DAT requires much more content (most of the time you know it or you get it wrong). You should be starting your studying as if it were from scratch.

I took the MCAT couple of years back. This year, i spent a month and a half to study for the DAT and did pretty well.
But i took the Canadian DAT. American DAT almost always takes longer to prepare for.
Study hard for whatever time you have (a little over a month as you said), take a couple of practice tests on Bootcamp/Genius etc. to gauge where you stand.
