Schools applied to this year: VCU, Creighton, UNLV, UOP, Louisville, Midwestern, Western, Boston, AZ (any suggestions for more schools?)
SO things have really turned around for me and I hope the first two years of GPA don't keep me out of school. ANy succes stories similar? Also, does any know if these schools will take the highest DAT score from each section? if so I will have a AA 20 and TS 20 (which I would be so stoked to have!!) Let me know what you think and if you have any buddies that have gotten in with the same stats and to where. Thanks for any input provided! Peace

check predents....

It's just as reliable as someone on an annonymous forum saying their boyfriend's cousin's baby's mama got in with gpa x and dat y.

Don't worry! Your scores are fine. People on here aren't adcoms. Just give it your all and you shall be fine. Chase the dream, not the competition.
Cheers.

LOL! I heard that quote from Britain's Got Talent - "Chase the dream, the the competition"... That's what I'm talking about.

Anyhow, back to the subject at hand. Personally, I think you'll get some interviews with an upward trend GPA and a slightly above average DAT score. I mean the QR isn't exactly everything and as you can see from other post, people don't do really well on QR and still get into D-school. Just apply right, and early. Make sure to call the schools your applying to and see what the cutoffs are. Hope this helps. Just keep your head up and your nutz intact.

BTW... How long did you study for and what mats did you use? Destroyer, Topscore, Achiever, Cliffs...?

p.s. Gratz on the new baby!

GOOD LUCK MY FRIEND! Creighton - you'd be very close to me hahaha!

UNLV - dude if i wasnt already in a dental program, that's what I would be doin too! lol GREAT minds think alike 😛

where are you from? do you know what states your state might have connections with? Many states have these kinda programs where they reserve X seats for Y state....I'd hit up all those ones!

Thanks for the advice. I am from Utah and we have a connection with Creighton so we'll see what happens there...Like post says I already tok the DAT last year. I enrolled in the Kaplan prep which was good but the thing that helped was the material provided. There is no need to do the class. THis year I studied for about 3 weeks 4hrs a night (I work full time) and then on the weekends. I used Destroyer and reviewed the Kaplan for stuff I didn't remember.

if you can apply to a post graduate dental program so you can earn your masters. If you do good it will show the dental schools that you are up for the challenge which will increase your chances
good luck

Thanks I already looked into that and the programs are going to ( if not already) have ended their application cycle for this year.
