Okay so for starters, I’m a recent graduate with a degree in dental hygiene. I still have to take o chem and physics before dental school, but I would like to take my DAT this upcoming sometime in September. I don’t remember much from biology and honestly kind of only paid enough attention to get a good grade in each class. I have difficulty retaining information. Does anyone have any insight or tips on how I should approach studying for the DAT? I don’t want to study too long but I also know that I have to relearn biology and teach myself chemistry before actually taking the course.
HELP ME!!

Learning organic, and reviewing biology is going to take quite a while, no way around it.

Biology can be relearned by reading, and shouldn't be too bad. Organic chemistry however, will be very difficult to learn from scratch imo. So I would highly recommend waiting till after you take Ochem to take the DAT.

get DAT bootcamp and destroyer from me! ;P bootcamp has so much study materials i think you can self-teach yourself (follow the study-schedule Ari provides). with enough practice, you'll be okay on DAT.

Hey Dejuan

I was in a similar situation as you where I basically had to relearn most of the material before taking the DAT. My first attempt at the DAT was in 07 (18AA) and then I went into a completely different field. I decided I would reapply to dental school and retook the DAT in 2017 (23AA).

It is going to take a lot of time to learn all the material. If you are able to study full time from morning to night for the next 3 or 4 months I think you could do it.

Here’s my breakdown on how I approached relearning everything.

DAT Retake Breakdown 2017

Hope it helps and best of luck! Feel free to pm me if you have any questions. If anyone needs help, feel free to contact me!
