So I'm currently scheduled to take my DAT in mid July but am feeling the pressure and feel no where near ready to take it so I'm thinking of rescheduling. This is my second time applying and I was just curious as to how late in the year I can consider scheduling the DAT so that its not too late in the application cycle? I apologize if this is a redundant question, just looking for some insight. Thanks - Aadi

From what I've read on these boards, people always suggest applying as early as you possibly can. However for some of us that's not possible. I had to postpone my DAT as well just to feel more ready and confident. If you get a very good DAT score, (20+ in all sections), applying later will not hurt you too much based on what my advisor/people from school have told me (not people on these boards). I know people who got many acceptances that took the DAT mid-August. But, again, they had very good scores. I wouldn't suggest pushing it further than late August and even then make sure the score is competitive! Do your best to study efficiently...there is plenty of time till then...and get that 20+++! Good luck! 🙂

As long as you submit your AADSAS application in June/July, then taking DAT in mid-August is fine. By the time the application is finished processing it will coincide with the exam date.

However, the problem would be if you waited until taking the DAT in mid-August and then submitted the application. Then by the time it finished processing, it'll be October which should be ok for most schools but you'll be pushing it close for interviews for the first round of acceptances.
