What should I bring and what should I not bring to the test center?

I am getting really nervous and just want to clarify what to bring and

not to bring.

Definately go bathroom before the test right?

Do you have plenty of time during break to go to the bathroom?

What should I wear?

Am I allow to bring my own marker? If not, how big is the marker?

Is there anyone who took DAT at Glendale, CA? Is the place really noisy and crowded?

No. Peeing yourself will prohibit people from sitting near you.

No, they let you get half-way done and then force you back into the test room.

Don't bring your own marker (lol?) they give you them and they are normal marker size... I assume it depends on the station though. You have headphones in case you think it's too loud. It's a test center...not a rave, come on.

lol. They tell you what you can and cannot bring. Just read that email they send you. You are given breaks throughout the test. It's very quiet too. You'll be video recorded too.

This may have some importance to you. I studied with the kaplan program (worth every bit of that $1000 ) and they provided us a marker and washboard. I learned during the reading comp section to go ahead and summarize each paragraph on my whiteboard. I was actually able to write without looking down at the paper (just a word or two). However, the marker the testing center provided was a much fatter tip. After my first section when I tried to read what I had written I realized my penmanship was used to a skinny tip marker and I had written complete blobs all over the paper ----> 18 RC score. I usually got a 22/23. Just wanted to warn you of this as it did bite me somewhat.

loll i had so much fun reading this thread that I have to say something.

First of all, ok let's not hate about the whole markers thing bc....I brought my own markers!! Of course, they told me I can't use them. The thing is, sometimes their markers suck. I made sure to test out the two the guy gave me and I'm not kidding, they didn't write!!! Why would you give that out to a student?? So I asked for newer ones...just make sure you test the markers out.

Also, don't freak out and lose the keys they give you to the locker. I lost their keys right before the test and I felt so bad. They had to get the backup. I still think that I'm one day going to randomly find them in my laundry or something.

Don't sweat the small stuff - just worry about keeping all the info in your brain!! Good luck

Just bring 2 signature IDs. 1 of them has to be a government-issued photo ID and the other can be your credit card.

i suggest going there today to check the place out if it is your first time taking the test. Go look at the markers, the laminated paper they give you, and do not act like an ahole towards them. Be very nice with them and they will hep you tomorrow.

Im guessing your taking it in culver city, the ladies there were very nice to me. They switched out markers for me during the test, and they gave me new pieces of the laminated scratch paper when it looked like I had written on everything.
