I was going to submit my application on May 15th and then take the DAT the first week of August. Going this route would I still have a decent shot at Pre-Dec 1st interviews, or should I take the DAT sooner. I really didn't want to rush the DAT and take/study for it mid-semester. My science and Cum GPA are both 3.7.

I keep seeing posts about people applying in August with good stats and having problems. I don't know if I would be in the same category since I will have gotten the longer part of the app process done in May, and the schools would just be waiting on the DAT scores.

Thanks for any opinions/experiences.

I don't think it's a problem as long as your application is in early. I took it Aug 27th and was able to schedule them as early as the end of October.

Good luck.

Go for it! I submitted my application on Jun 15th and took the DAT late August around the 28th. Landed interviews pre dec 1st and have an acceptance on dec 1st.

submitted AADSAS in early summer.... DAT in late August..... i cant even remember somewhere from 10-12 pre december 1st interviews.... it doesnt matter

Just be aware that by that time some schools will already be conducting interviews. Schools like Nova, Case and Midwestern started very early this year and were handing out interview invites in July.

Delaying the DAT may not hurt strong applicants. However, for those of us who don’t stand head and shoulders above the rest, we may benefit from a smaller summer applicant pool and an early interview.

I took my DAT on August 2nd and then submitted August 10th. I applied to 4 schools. Got one interview Oct. 8th and Dec. 1st acceptance. It happened to be my top choice. I got pretty lucky!

As long as your application is in early, you can take the DAT later and be okay. I sent my application mid-July and to the DAT mid-September, and still got 6 acceptances.

I turned in my app to AADSAS at the end of june, and took my DAT at the very end of july. Keep in mind that AADSAS takes at least a month-two months to process, so if you do it that way, you will be getting your stuff in all at the same time. But also, schools wont even look at your application until your DAT scores are in.

aug is fine, esp with a 3.7 gpa. take your time! i submitted aadsas july 17th, took DAT aug 17, and got into the 3 schools i interviewed at pre dec 1 with a 3.5. gl 🙂

Sent AADSAS my application and LOR's in late June. Took the DAT Aug 20th. Got three acceptance letters between December 1st and 7th.
