I am planning on taking the DAT in ~1 week and was wondering: If I don't perform as well as I want, will it reflect on my application negatively if I take it again in 5-6 months? (Around the beginning of summer)

I took the Kaplan CD test to see where I was at and got 19-22's in everything (19 in science...). I haven't done any studying beyond the day before I spent on the PAT section and I'm afraid of relying on this one instance in deciding what to do.

As of now I'm gonna take another practice test from a different company in a few days. If I get similar scores I'll go ahead and take the real thing. If I get significant (negative) differences I'll call in and cancel my test.

I thought I would just ask for any sort of opinion/humor, thanks!

Sorry, wrong forum section...I have reposted in the DAT section...also I am unsure how to delete my new thread. :luck: Sorry.

I would never want to take the DAT ever again. I wouldn't go into it thinking you will re-take it. Otherwise you won't try as hard the first time. That's just my personal opinion anyway.

First off, go and ROCK THE TEST! Don't think about the possibility of re-taking it and since you seem to be doing well on the practice tests, you're probably confident to do well.

Sometimes you just don't know how the scores reflect your ability to be accepted. If you're solid, just apply with them and see what happens. You could be very pleasantly surprised! If you're absolutely not satisfied, you can sign up again after 90 days (~3 months) so you may not have to wait as long as 5 or 6 to re-take it and get a better score.

Best of luck!!

Thanks ppl! I was glad to see responses to my duplicate posts in separate forum sections 😳. I've opted to take the DAT after my bchm/physiology classes since they include material on the test 😎. Plus then I can get my AA to a higher level if I practice practice practice.
