DAT - My 2nd Time (Is it good enough to stay in CA!!)

Well, today was my 2nd time taking the DAT. Overall I am happy with my scores because it went up. But I'm not sure whether it is good enough. What do you guys think?

19/20/17 - but I got a 16 on RC, which droped 3 whole points from my old score...damn!!!

My gpa, both overall and science wise is a 3.1. My AADSAS #195X, but it probably don't matter since the schools have been waiting for my 2nd score. Or does it?

I applied to all the Cali schools, Boston, NYU, Tufts, Arizona, UNLV. I would like to stay in Cali, what do you guys think my chances are with my scores and gpa? Be honest I can take it. Should I relax and be happy this X-mas...or expect some rejections the next few weeks!! Thanks.

Except UOP, other cal schools told me 20 was competitive. Your gpa is a little bit low though.

Who knows what kinds of spots will open up once December 1st folks turn down certain schools...

If all else fails, this might be a perfect opportunity to try out a new locale

I only applied to 3 of the Cal schools and only UOP contacted me. My GPA is about the same as yours. Did you get a clergyman to write you a rec for Loma Linda?

First off, congrats on improving your scores. That really shows dedication. I agree with sherm, you need that letter to get an interview with LLU. Also, my application is scheduled to be re-reviewed by UOP next month. I think it's because my PAT is too low and that I took all my pre-reqs at a CC. I hear 'SC also likes a higher PAT, but I think you stand a good chance there. Also, at my LLU interview, I was told my PAT score was at the cutoff but that I should be fine. So work on getting that letter and good luck!

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. Yeah, I had my pastor write me a letter of recommendation a long time ago...I think it is a good one. I go to a very big church and he doesn't know me personally, but I'm almost sure it's good. LLU actually called me on Monday, the day before my test and told me to fax them the scores once I got it....is that a good thing?

I think it's a good sign that they called you. Hopefully, you'll get an invite after their next meeting.

I had my interview on Monday. They tell you to arrive about 30 minutes before your scheduled interview to fill out a form and write a brief essay. It's not bad. My one-on-one lasted about 45 minutes, and it was open file. Very comfortable and felt like a conversation. I did some searching online about the SDA religion, so we were able to talk about that aspect of the school. After the interview, a student gave us a tour of the facilities. I was impressed by his helpfulness and honesty in answering my questions. All in all, I was there 2 1/2 hours and was pleased with the interview experience.
