If I have not taken both Orgo sections, but go through Chad's Video's twice, and also use Destroyer, with Orgoman supplement, will I be able to pull it off?

For reference, I have to test out of Chemistry 2 and have been self teaching and taking the exams with the rest of class (the professor is incredibly helpful on this part) and I am killing it. I have an average of 90% on the three tests so far. So I CAN self teach some things.

What say you SDN...is it possible for me to get 18+ on Orgo section without taking the full dose of O-Chem?

I'll hang up and listen to your responses.

what year are you that you havn't taken Orgo but want to take the DAT?
ummmm i dont know, i mean chad does "teach" but i feel like its more of "reteaching" bc most ppl who watch chads videos are using it to boost their memory of orgo they had once taken before. or most DAT takers have at least taken orgo1, so i presume.
you really kind of need to know the basis of the course and framework of orgo and i dont know if you can get that from chad. he does defly reinforce concepts/ideas tho. You defly cannot "learn" the basis of orgo from destroyer bc thats just HARD and you need to have a crux/basis in orgo before u hit destroyer. so really youd solely be using just chad to teach you orgo.....which may work for you? you should give it a try and see if it all makes sense to you and if you can connect the dots. see if his quizzes make sense to you/you understand them.
i know when i studied for the DAT i did use my old orgo text book and notes from class to refer to when i didn't understand something, but maybe youll just understand everything really quickly....

I am a Post-Bacc. I graduated in 2006 with a management degree and am coming back to take all my pre-req's. I want to make sure I get a full application out in June, but I am taking Orgo 1 & 2 this summer...I will have both Orgo sections done by the end of August. My plan is if I totally bomb the Orgo section to do a retake in August after taking the Orgo sections. I have completed 30 hours of the pre-reqs with a 4.0 (I had no previous science GPA) and have done a bunch of shadowing and volunteering and what not. I really want to get in this cycle and not have to put it off another whole year. DAT is basically my final hurdle (in theory).

I know that Orgo is generally difficult anyway, but I am so tirelessly devoted to trying to get it right the first time...even if the odds are stacked against me.

go to it then! spend your friday night with chad. its what all the cool kids do.
join the club.
plus at least u have a backup, u can always retake in august if you take your DAT by may.
gluck

also, which prereqs have you completed? all of them except orgo?

By the time I took the DAT, I forgot most of the organic chemistry I learned...I guess I didn't "learn" it since I forgot it, but I ended up reteaching myself most of it. So it is doable to teach yourself orgo for the DAT. I would try to get my hands on as much orgo material as possible. Maybe there are other orgo tutorials that can prep you for the test. Good luck!

When I took the DAT orgo was fresh because I just completed it but it had been about 5 years since Gen Chem... I watched Chad's videos, went through, the ACS gen chem book and Dat destroyer gen chem... I ended up doing decent on this section (decent not great 😉).

My suggestion is Chad's Videos with good notes in order to grasp the class. Then Start with ACS O-chem and DAT destroyer.

On my blog I have a study plan suggestions o-chem/gen-chem (virtually the same plan just different subjects). If you follow it and watch chads videos I think you will be golden 👍
