First of all, I just want to say thanks to everyone who gave advice that helped me prepare for the DAT. I've learned quite a bit from here.

Here are my scores:

PA 22 98.9%
QR 22 96.1%
RC 25 99.1%
Bio 19 91.2%
GC 23 96.4%
OC 23 97.1%
TS 21 96.5%
AA 22 98.7%

I used everything to prepare: Kaplan blue book, Barron's book, Schaum's Bio (my weakest area because I am a Computer Science undergrad major), Dat Achiever, and Topscore pro. I also used my Carey O-chem textbook.

Most helpful: Kaplan blue book, DAT Achiever. I ran out of time and couldn't even read much out of Schuam's.

Best advice: The DAT will be 100 times easier than Dat Achiever and Topscore pro practice tests if you take them and then study the answers. Don't stress out too much. I was freaking out last week--Now I really think that the DAT was way easier than people make it out to be. You will do just fine if you put in the hours and take as many practice tests as you can!!! Also, I was given a laminated sheet of paper with markers to write on and my stupid markers died in the middle of GC so I say ask for backups in advance.

I'd be happy to discuss any other details about how the testing experience was and what else I did to prepare.

Needless to say, I'm going out to dinner with my wife to celebrate right now! 🙂

Congratulations!! You did great. I am sure you are so relieved to have that out of the way, and on top of that, I am sure you are estastic that you did so well.

I am going to bug you and ask a few questions. I have my DAT on Monday. For some weird reason I am pretty calm. I am very busy and working very hard, but I am not freaking out like I thought I would be at this point.

This is my question. I took Topscore Test 2 and made the following score.

Bio 19
Chem 18
O Chem 20
PAT 23
QR 21 (should have made around a 19 - 6 problems that I got correct were lucky guesses)
RC 23

I have Kaplan, Topscore and DAT just like you. I am spending the last days going through math, bio, chem, ochem. I spend a day on each subject. I am mostly just going back over each problem on Topscore, DAT Achiever and Kaplan and trying to correct my weaknesses. The problem is that I am running out of time. Should I forget Kaplan tests and focus on Topscore and DAT Achiever or what.

I am going to take test 3 on Friday.

Do you think I am up to par? What were your Topscore scores like?
Do you think I am studying correctly in the final stretch.

Your scores look very similar to mine. I'm sure you're going to do awesome.

Here are my scores for the Top Score Pro test 2:

Bio 17
Chem 20
O Chem 18
PAT 22
QR 20
RC 22

I spent three to four hours each day the weeks before the test really studying hard. I spent my time skimming through the Bio, OC and GC portions of Kaplan blue book looking for things I didn't know and then going over those sections of Dat Achiever/Top Score and doing the same. I think if you understand how to do most of the problems on Dat Achiever and Top Score after reviewing them, you are really going to do well (because the real test is much nicer--the calculations work out nicely on GC).

I think you are definitely "up to par." Tell me how your test goes!

Thanks for the advice and the boost of confidence. I am sure you enjoyed your celebration dinner. Bask in the glow for the next few weeks. You deserve it. Next, get ready for the interviews to roll your way and then…….plan to back your bags because you are going to the dental school of your choice. Congratulatons!
