Kaplan is the main company that offers prep courses for the DAT. You'll have to check their website for listings of when courses start in your area. I took the online class with them a while ago. The course online has videos and lessons and they ship you some books and flashcards to help prepare - I liked the online class because you can work at your own pace and go back and watch lessons you need extra help with. The class was expensive but I thought it was worthwhile since I had been out of college for a few years and needed more than just a basic review. If you feel you comfortable with your sciences and you don't want to spend the money, then just get the kaplan book and topscore and schaum's outline of biology and you should be good. Whatever you decide, study your butt off to get those 20+ scores.

Good luck.

Kaplan DAT Class

I took the "classroom" course. but I wish I had taken the online course. Going to class was so boring (3+ hours, twice a week) so I didn't even go half the time. I was really upset with Kaplan though because their methods are very outdated. The main thing I was so angered at was how they prepared me for the reading section. They tell you exactly how to take notes on the PAPER that's supposed to be provided for you but then when I took the test I got two sheets of laminated paper and a thick sharpie! HUGE difference when writing. I was getting 20's on this section in practice exams and was finishing with time to spare. I got a 17 on this section and I didn't have time to read the last passage.

I agree. Kaplan's methods are archaic and should not be used too often. Their RC strategy is too time consuming. Most people use a modified version where they jot down 2-3 words max/paragraph.

I don't think it is worth the $1,110 or however much it costs. Better to take that money and buy other prep material or save it for applying because damn it is expensive.
