I'm going to start studying for the DAT soon. I searched around SDN and I'm going to buy the Destroyer (Math Destroyer as well) as well as some other materials (Cliffs AP, Feralis' notes, etc.). I am thinking of getting DAT Bootcamp or DAT Genius so I could get some timed practice. Which would you guys say is better? Or should I get both?

Also, I'm planning to get Chad's videos for chemistry and organic chemistry. I found a promo code online to get 15% off. If I get Bootcamp, is there a promo code for it? I heard that some schools get them, but my school does not have a pre-dental society 🙁

I would get Bootcamp.
Definitely get Destroyers, Chad's videos for OC/GC, and AP cliff's 3rd edition, and supplement with Feralis Bio.
Remember, Destroyer should be used as a learning tool, not for just practice. Know why you got it wrong and why you got it right

I would strongly consider getting both genius and bootcamp. dat genius is really amazing in biology and pat explanations - I've learned way more with dat genius than dat bootcamp in these two subjects. And for the other sections, dat genius and dat bootcamp seems to compliment each other (in gen chem, orgo, reading comp etc).

If I was you I'd get dat genius, dat bootcamp, dat destroyer and chad's videos. With these four products you'll hit everything you need to get a strong score.
+1. Genius + Bootcamp + Destroyer + Chad's = success.

DEFINITELY BOOTCAMP. Not sure about DAT genius but I used Chad's Videos--->DAT Destroyer (both science and math), then after finishing all these sections once-->moved on to Bootcamp (PAT is super helpful, so are the science sections)

I signed up for both websites (the free plans) to see what their tests are like before upgrading. I agree with you on DAT Genius' explanations for PAT and biology. They're really good at explaining TFE!! I think I'm going to get both because what one site is missing, the other site has (i.e. the generators). Thanks for the advice! 🙂

Thanks to everyone who replied to my post! I appreciate the help!

One more question. How did you start studying for the PAT and RC sections? Will reading articles on Scientific American and using the generators daily be good enough to do well?

Have you guys read anything about Chad's Videos being free to watch now? Also, how Chad has made new videos for the DATs specifically but is on mindsmoothie.com? I am so confused as to what we are supposed to watch and where it is found.

It looks like chad has started his own website. The videos are free on chadsvideos.com. mindsmoothie.com looks like its down right now, but it is also associated with chads.

Thanks for letting us know about Chad's new site. I wonder if the videos on the chadsvideos.com site are the same as those on mindsmoothie.com. I hope they're working on bringing the site back up.

use my natural science notes

Downloaded them this morning. Thank you for putting the notes together! I'm sure they'll help me out a lot

Start PAT with DAT genius as the explanations teach you how to think. Use the bootcamp generators daily while doing dat genius PAT tests every other day. Once you've finished genius PAT, then do all the bootcamp PAT (explanations not as in depth, and slightly harder than the real DAT so not as good a place to start).

Thanks for the advice! Sounds like a good plan.

My pleasure. The key is to keep on practicing. I had no clue with PAT at the beginning, but using the strategy I told you, I have broken through that "wall" and get things now (and PAT scores are way up)

Only thing is that the free videos don't have the quizzes to go along with it. I'm trying to decide if the $35 is worth the quizzes or if I should find practice else where.

According to Chad's Facebook page for Chad's Videos, the new DAT videos include some concepts that we should know for the DAT that weren't covered in his previous videos and his quizzes are all new. I'm hoping his site will be back up soon because I'd rather have his new videos. I'm not sure if this is still an option, but his page also said that he's letting people try out the videos for free for a month, so fingers crossed the site comes back ASAP

Is Scientific American free? The articles I try to read listed on Bootcamp always lead to a paywall.

Scientific American is free for the most part. There are some articles that require you to have a digital subscription though. Without it, you won't be able to see the entire article. However, if you look around on their site (latest news/most read sections), they do have long articles that are free

@sochers - currently using your technique, seems to be working so far 🙂
awesome, happy to hear the technique is working for you. once you break through that wall, you just start to 'get PAT' and then it becomes so much easier

@gucci, I got the promo code for Chad's videos from this link: http://crushthedatexam.com/chads-videos-dat/
I would definitely advise you to download Ty Jacobs' natural science notes from the DAT Genius website (they're free) because his chemistry notes include things that are covered on the DAT that Chad does not cover. Chad does have updated DAT videos on another site (mindsmoothie), but it has been down for a month or so, so I have no access to those videos
