I am trying to explore my options for private tutoring. Kaplan/Princeton Review are so expensive. I have already taken the DAT and received a 19 but need to get a 21 or better.

If anyone knows a friend or a friend of a friend who might be interested in the San Diego area please reply to this thread ASAP!

I live in San Diego too! Do you go to ucsd or sdsu? What sections do you need help in? I did real well on the PAT, ochem and average on the other sections.

I'd be willing to do it over Skype, but that doesn't sound like what you're looking for.

Are y'all able to tutor PAT via Skype in less than three weeks ? lol

If you need someone to teach you then you should really think about if dental school is good for you. Rely on yourself to become better and grasp these things, because not every time in life you will have someone to come help you learn it better. Just saying don't waste your money and motivate yourself, if dentistry is really what you want to do.

If YOU need help, GET it.
If you have the resources to get a tutor and you think you need one, do it.
His/her motivation might be there already, but they just need someone to explain the material on an one-on-one basis, not everybody has the same learning style. I suggest yko0584 that you need to step back, be more open, and actually be of good advice to OP.

With that said, good luck OP, you got this, study hard, and keep on going.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I shared mine! And it's not for you to judge if it was good or bad advice.

Sure I agree. 🙂
Just didn't want OP to feel demotivated. Been in the same spot before.
Peace.

To be blatantly honest, I completely agree with yko0584. The DAT, in part, is to test your ability to study for dense, important exams.

Do you think whenever you get out of dental school that you just start your own practice right away?

Do you think you learn all by yourself, and dental schools does not teach you anything?

Yes, there is a clear difference between independent and motivation. It may relate in some ways, but if you are asking for help to set a ground for yourself. Then let it be. Some people need help only at the beginning, and from there will become on their own.

All the good dentists are usually resourceful.

It is important. Some people just need that extra help. But I respect everyone's opinion.
Good luck OP, sorry to get off topic.

Dont bother paying anyone. Do chad's videos, then Feralis Notes and then Destroyer for practice. If you figure it out for your self ... you are more likely to get it right on your test then someone just telling you how certain concepts work.
Best of luck
