Hi all!

So my exam is in 12 days!!!

And the section Im really worrying about is RC.

Iv tried all strategies. Ive tried reading article to help my reading comprehension and speed. I just cannot have enough time to read and answer the questions. If I read, I need to read slowly, which sucks for something like this.

The only way I'm able to get 18-21 on the practice exams is by doing the following:
-Straight S&D
-Read first two paragraphs, skim rest of passage. S&D
-Read first two paragraphs, first sentence of each paragraph, and skim rest of paragraph. Repeat for each paragraph. S&D.

I go for the points. If It's an easy question (detail), I answer it. If it's a longer question, or a tone/ inference question I cannot answer from reading a little, then I skip it. At the end, I go back to the skipped ones.
*Actually, I need to work on moving on if I cant find the answer to a question, which eats away some time*

Anyhow, like I said, I've been getting 18-21 on BC/Genius/QVault doing this way, getting 30-37 questions right (around that range for those scores)

So basically: Am I screwed for RC using these methods?

Ive literally done everything possible. I dont know what else to do. I know some people have advised against S&D, but honestly, I dont know what else to do other than supplying it with another technique.

Any advice on this? Please help me out, im freaking out (even with getting 20's on the practice tests)

I know in actuality that I wont score higher than like a 21 on this section. Realistically, Id be happy with 18-20 on this section, as its my worst. Im doing well in everything else.

Please help.

Thank you so much in advance!!

I took the DAT this past Monday and scored a 26 RC. My method was to read carefully (~10 mins per passage) and take notes paragraph by paragraph. Since I spent so long reading I was able to easily answer the questions or go right to the section that the answer could be found in. I ended up with about 5 minutes remaining to go over the few questions that I had answered and marked. I tried S&D when studying but found myself rushing and less confident than when I just took my time reading the passage. Experiment with trying to take notes (key words/main idea of the paragraph) and reading slowly in bootcamp and see if that helps.

Thank you for this. Gave me some hope. 🙂
