Hi all,

so I just registered for my DENTPIN and got the stuff here: http://screencast.com/t/ht4y5pyqI

Then I went to schedule and this happened: http://screencast.com/t/pF7GcBet

Is the Eligibility ID the same as the DENTPIN?

---

I just bought the Kaplan DAT material and I'm making a schedule for my months of prepping. Ideally, I want 2 days/week to self test myself on the DAT, but I don't think Kaplan has enough practice exams to cover that. Is there another source I can use to supplement additional practice exams?

I have done some browsing since registering an hour or two ago, but what is Destroyer? From what I gathered, it's another form of Kaplan. But, is there a price range and what do people mean by new or old versions and buying it from this site?
---Also, is there any suggestions on things like Kaplan and Destroyer?

Finally, I took a practice DAT for the first time and my results show that my lowest score is orgo. Also, I'm going to tack on reading comprehension... I got a 17, which is so-so, if you don't take into account that I was literally filling in the correct answers because the reading passages were things based on stuff I already knew. Are there any suggestions in improving these scores?

No they are two different things. You don't not get a eligibility ID until you actually pay for the exam.

The process goes like this.

1. Obtain DENTPIN,
2. register for DAT using DENTPIN,
3. pick schools to send report to(I suggest you check everything makes you're life easier should their ever be an issue)Whether you check off 1 school or all the fee is the same.
4. PAY for exam
5. Wait about 24hrs to get eligibility ID
6. Go to prometric site, and pick date/time/location you want.

As for your other questions.

Destroyer is a book that contains about 200+ questions on Ochem, Gchem, Bio and Math. you can find the exact count for each section on his website orgoman.com

Its a book of practice problems that for the most part are harder than the actual test. Master the book and you'll have a good chance of doing well. I say good chance because well there's always the possibility you freak out on test day and go blank.
Don't be surprised if you happen to see questions that are rather similar on the exam.

what people mean is buying used older editions.

While he does update the book with additional questions. you can get by with an older editions. There are some typos but the questions are merely shuffled in a different order.

there are various ways to improve your reading score. I'm guessing your an international student but since I don't know for sure and thus know English skills I will try to generalize. the most sure fire way is to read more. While you are likely to get science passages, just know that everything is fair game. Its a READING comprehension test. not a SCIENCE reading comprehension test. Get yourself some science journals, popular science magazines, newspapers. By reading more you can improve your speed. Some journals even have questions at the end and can be used for practice.

Oh and by the way, you forgot to completely black out your name.

Hey thanks a lot, that really helped. One issue though: I have NoScript added on firefox and when I clicked submit, the plug-in blocked the script so I decided to allow it, which caused a 'resend' button. I clicked cancel, simply because the payment is non-refundable and I didn't want to pay double for nothing. Should I wait until tomorrow night to check if it actually went through, or should I wait until Monday night since it's a weekend?

Sweet, thanks for clearing up the Destroyer bit.

aaaand nope! Born and raised here. I just never trusted my reading abilities because when I was a kid (and still now), whenever I read a good book, I tend to read every word bit by bit and imagine the scene in my head so I don't forget anything. It sucks, but w/e.

ps: thanks a ton for that catch

I am registering for my DAT and I was unsure of what to do when it asks you which schools you want to send your score to, Im not planning on applying till next June so do I click any of them? Im unsure of which schools to select, what if you do badly and you dont want your scores sent out? Im not sure if these are dumb questions, I was just confused cause when my sister did her MCAT she did not have to select any schools..if I dont select some now can I do it later? I hope my questions make sense! Thanks in advance!!

technically you can check just 1 off and you'll be fine. but the fee amount is the same whether you pick 1 school or all of them including canada.

if for some reason a school wants a score from the ADA and refuses the aadsas score as official you will have to pay $25 per school.

my suggestion is check them all off. Save yourself the money and potential headache.
