Hi Guys!
So I just took my DAT today and I realized my scores aren't the best but not THAT bad either..
I wasn't necessarily nervous, but I definitely wasn't able to manage my time well especially with Reading Comprehension and Quantitative Reasoning..
The fact that my Bio score is 18 really gets to me because I'm assuming bio is going to be the primary topic of learning in dental school..

What do you guys think? retake or no?
will I be able to get in anywhere?

I'm currently a junior and my GPA is 3.4; science GPA 3.2.5

I just want to hear what you guys think!

Thanks

Perceptual ability 21 (93.8)
Quantitative reasoning 21 (97.6)
Reading comprehension 19 (67.6)😕
Biology 18 (72.1)😡
General chemistry 24 (98)
Organic chemistry 21 (89.7)
TS 20 (91.3)
AA 21 (97.2)

Actually, your scores are really good. 18 isn't going to kill you in biology, nor is 19 in RC. 21 AA/ 21 PAT is solid. Apply early with good EC's, shadowing, and LOR and you'll be fine.

Best of luck, and good job!

Only in these professional schools, where over 40% of applicants get in, will someone question a top 3% test score.

That is very true haha, but I don't think it's intentional for the most part. I mean if you got a 23+ and you are concerned about your score, then there is something definitely wrong there. I think the issue is a lot of people are worried about their mess up in their first two years in undergrad or just found it really difficult to keep a decent GPA . . . so they study balls to the wall to ace the DAT to compensate.

Fair point.

I think you'll be fine. I got an 18 in bio as well 🙁 but i still managed a few interviews (and the process has only just begun)

I think your anxiety might come from having compared your scores to all the other SDNers on this forum. And while that is great to use for motivation to study hard and do well, I wouldn't doom yourself because they don't match to all the 25+ AA's you see on this forum.

Not to mention a lot of people posting their scores on the forum do so with little to no prior posts and seldom give breakdowns to help others, so my logical conclusion is that they are simply flaunting their scores. I would imagine the larger majority of lurkers on this forum are getting scores just like you and me.

Don't get discouraged! You're still above the average! Good luck bro!

We're in the same boat. You will get in.

Just make sure you have a great personality! It's not ALL about scores once you made the cut and your scores are definitely above the cutoff for everything.
