I took the DAT last week:

PAT 18
QR 22
RC 19
Biology 21
GC 21
OC 26
TS 22
AA 22

GPA 3.97

I'm really worried about my PAT and RC scores.. I'm a rising junior, so should I retake it next summer?

seriously?!??!!?!!? YOU HAVE A 22AA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i dont get how people score so amazing and ask a question like this unless you plan on applying to harvard or something!

Haha I'm satisfied with my AA but what if my PAT score hurts my chances of getting in?

You're fine. What did you use to study?

I started off with Chad's for OC, GC, and QR. Just learning the material, taking detailed notes, studying those notes, and taking the quizzes. I did these twice to make sure I really knew the material.

Then I moved onto DAT Destroyer for OC, GC, and QR practice. I only went through it once, marking the ones I thought were difficult/important and reviewing those a couple days before my exam. I also used Math Destroyer, which was a little overkill (just because there are 14 tests, only did 9 of them) but it definitely helped!

For Biology I went through Cliff's AP Biology 4th Edition (I recently heard 3rd edition is better, but 4th worked fine for me) and took my own notes from every chapter, just because I remember things better when I write them down. For the anatomy section, I used KBB, Cliff's, and Feralis notes. DAT Destroyer was the best way to tie all of the biology together. I went through that twice - once after I finished studying the material and once a couple days before my exam to make sure it was fresh in my head. Make sure you really read and understand the explanations! Those were more helpful than the questions themselves.

I found out about DAT Bootcamp a couple weeks before my DAT. I went through the GC, OC, and Biology tests 3 times before my test. I wouldn't say the questions were exactly like the real thing, but those questions/explanations helped me reason through questions on the DAT. I thought Bootcamp's QR was overkill so I just stuck to Math Destroyer. I didn't use Bootcamp's PAT either, but looking back I probably should have.

PAT I didn't start until about a month before my test and I only used Crack DAT PAT. I went from 17 to 20 on those practice tests, so I felt prepared, but I guess not.. haha. I definitely think Crack DAT PAT was worth it though - just do a little practice everyday (even the day before the test) to constantly work on your perceptual ability.

Hope that helps!

Your RC is more than fine, I wouldn't worry too much about that. And as for PAT I know someone that has got in with a 13 on that section. Your other scores are great so don't retake it and jeopardize that!

i think you need to retake it. your scores aren't that competitive and that 18 in PAT really really sticks out. 🙄

Can you tan or enjoy wearing sunscreen? With a 22 AA and 18 in PAT your options are limited to Caribbean schools. Just trolling, you are fine! Great work.
