DAT Retake?

Hey all,

So I've applied to 15 dental schools with the following stats. I've received one interview and I'm freaking out. I am eligible to re-take at the beginning of November and I want your advice. Should I retake? Do people tend to get more post December interviews?

GPA 3.52
Science GPA 3.43

AA 19
PAT 20
TS 20

Bio 19
Gen Chem 20
OChem 21
Reading 19
QR 15
PAT 20

Naw it was just QR that sucked and schools don't care as much about that. You'll wanna make sure that your schools don't automatically filter you out with a 15 on a subject test. I might be tempted to take DAT over Christmas break if I hadn't heard much from anybody and I was positive that I could get improvement in a few subjects on DAT.

I think you'll hear from more schools as long as you applies to schools with stats that match yours and you have quality LORs

when did you apply??
you said you can take DAT again in November..meaning your last DAT was in august? then your app. must have completed in late august...

if that is correct, i would said wait a little bit..there are a lot of people who applied in July didn't get any news with good stats...if your application was completed in late august or in september, i think it is too early to freak out....

like the guy above said, prepare for DAT for december...if you didn't heard anything form ANY other schcools, then take it..

but for QR..i think school will invite you to interview and specifically ask for why your DAT QR is low...rather then just filter you out..(it is def. low...but you have good GPA..)

I have similar DAT as you but my ts is 1 point lower and my RC is17.

My gpa is a little better and I have 5 interviews so far.

Did you apply late?

Hmm, well the QR does raise a red flag. But I think you should be able to get by without a retake...

My opinion is to individually contact schools and see if the QR score would impact the rest of your application. Best of luck <3

Oh wow! Congrats! Where did you apply and did you receive an interview invite from in-state dental schools?

My application was sent out July 12th but my DAT scores weren't in until August 16th (took my DAT 8/3/13).

Thanks Liz. I might consider that option. Just don't want to annoy the dental schools.

My application was sent out July 12th but my DAT scores weren't in until August 16th (took my DAT 8/3/13).

I got an interview from my state school and 4 out of state (UDM, NOVA, Lecom, Minnesota)
