Hello all! I want to first of all thanks you SDN for posting so much useful information about the DAT. I just finished my DATs and I received the score of AA: 20, TS: 20. All the individual scores are: RC:18, QR:20, PAT: 22, OC: 19, GC: 20 and Bio:21. I'm good with my score, but I was wondering if the score is not good enough and I should retake it. My GPA is 3.4 and science GPA is 3.2, so I feel like I would need a higher DAT score. I'm really confused on what to do, and would love to hear what you guys think! thanks!

What do you want to do?

Did you apply already?

Try to get your science GPA up to a 3.4. Do you think that you can study more and increase your score to a 22+? Your scores are good enough for applying, but with a 3.2 science GPA you may only get interviews at private schools.

Thanks for replying, do you think 20 is good enough if I improve my GPA and have other ECs?

Considering that the average DAT for a matriculating dental school student is about 19.5, I would not settle for a 20. Your GPA would still be on the low side. A 22 or higher is attainable with enough dedication, motivation and hard work. Read the ultimate breakdown thread posted by Glimmer for advice on how to get a great DAT score

ok here is what some people always forget... u said the avg is 19.5... this means that there are alot of people that get 23+ in that group... which also means there are people with 17/18s getting in.... ur fine dont retake unless u have time and really think u can do better

You're fine. You're slightly above the average ACCEPTED student. Choose your schools carefully and prepare to kill the interviews. The AVERAGE dat score is still around 17.

Those scores are great, don't let anyone tell you to retake! You will get interviews as long as the rest of your app is polished. Just do everything you can to make a 4.0 from here on out.

Good luck to ya!
