which of the following statements is/are true concerning a diploid organism

1. at most only two alleles occur at a given locus in an organism's genome
2. alleles occupy identical locus in homologous chromosomes.
3. alleles of a given gene usually occur on nonhomologous chromosomes.
4. a single chromosome usually carries two alleles of each gene.

a. 4
b 1 + 2
c. 3
d. 1 + 2 + 4
e. 3 + 4

I thought that the answer was b (1+2).. because I thought that since 1 is right, then 4 is wrong.... Since in a diploid organism you have a set of chromosomes from mom and one from dad, then wouldn't each one have its own allele....?

i just looked at my ada booklet
it says answer is b not d missy!
my booklet is kinda old thu (1999) cuz i live in the past

well the answer is D (1,2 & 4) this is a question from the sample DAT from the ADA, so I assume the answers are right.. and I am a miss, not mister.

yeah, i got that problem wrong too. i thought it was B too. I guess we are supposed to assume that 1 single chromosome means 1 single pair. Thats my best guess.
