how were your practice scores before you took it?

I think you should still send in your application. Just don't send your scores. Did you already have your DAT scores sent automatically? I would just send in your app and then submit your new scores when available.
AND STUDY YOUR BUTT OFF.

Thanks guys! It's funny how you said study your "butt off" when in actual fact i did that! I worked both my butts off! Anyhow, I got about 18 when i was practicing and the first practice test i got a 17 and then a 18.

If you aren't having any success on practice tests then I would suggest taking a Kaplan course or some other supplemental instruction plan that will organize your DAT studying so that you know that you are attacking the material in the most beneficial way.

Time spent studying for the DAT isn't always the factor that determines test-day success. Quality time spent studying the material in a way that makes sense to you and is on the same level as the test is the most important thing. I know several people that didn't have to study very hard for the test because they were reviewing the information in a way that made the material more digestible, and Kaplan can help you do that.

Keep your head up. Treat your first DAT experience as a learning experience and become a better studier because of it. Good luck on your re-take!

Definitely agree!!! Spend endless hours on plain memorization is a "passive" way to study. Try to "manipulate" the study materials in such a way that you can remember them easier. Like using mnemonics, correlate old informations to the new ones, etc. Example: King Philip Came Over For Great Sex --> kingdom, phylum, etc. You got the idea.
DAT requires critical thinking, which means you gotta know how to use the contents and apply them to the new context. I suggest you do as many exams as possible, and check out the DAT section of this forum! Remember, practice, practice, and more practice. Good luck!

Will dental schools have access to view your old DAT scores?

Yes. Because when i registered through ADA i put in the schools that i wanted to send my scores too and now the scores will be sent automatically. So that sucks! I am so screwed!

I believe you can update DAT Score section of AADSAS application even after e-submission.
Just put the expected date of future DAT and many schools won't even start reviewing your app until they receive your new score. This method may protect you from getting rejected outright.

on AADSAS under the DAT section, it tells you to list most recent DAT and its scores... so i would think you'd have to include them either way =/
