You guys think these scores are good enough for a non resident applying to UCLA?

I studied for two weeks and used 2011 Kaplan online and blue book, DAT Destroyer, and a couple Crack DAT PATs.

GPA? extracurricular activities?

Great scores by the way! 🙂

3.78 overall GPA
3.67 Sci GPA

Only 15 hrs of shadowing so far =(
~45 hours of volunteering

Do you think I can log some hours after I apply? I really haven't had much time to shadow with finals and all.

UCLA doesn't have any minimum shadowing hours, which is good for you.
You should still shadow after you apply, because the primary reason for shadowing is to see if the field of dentistry is what you really want to do, not just to log hours for application. Also, if you rack up some more hours, you can definitely talk about that in the interview to... sway their mind? haha.
I would say it's worth applying there, since you have good stats.
You won't have a GREAT chance, but it's definitely worth a try IMO considering how great the school is.
My gpa is similar to yours, cGPA 3.74 and sGPA 3.71. I'm hoping my DAT score (will be taking it on June 26th) to be around yours too. Although I'm an Illinois resident, UCLA is one of my dream schools as well. Will be applying there for sure.
Good luck to both of us! 🙂

Well lets put it this way. Your DAT won't hold you back when you apply to UCLA. If you don't get an interview it'll be some other thing the UCLA folks are offended by. Solid 20+ on everything is a very good score regardless of where you apply.

Nice Bio - how did you prepare for that?

LSU (where I go to school) has a surprisingly great bio program. Also, I used the Kaplan 2011 blue book as well as 2011 DAT destroyer. I understood overall concepts first, then learned the details after.

Good Luck!

These are scores that everyone would like. Congratulations.
