Hey All,
I am hoping that someone may be able to explain the "DAT scoring curve"? My friend who is a DII at Tufts told me that you could (hypothetically) get every single Bio question on the DAT right and still get a 27 and not a 30 b/c your score "scaled" according to whoever else is taking the test. Is this true? If so WHO are you scaled with-those taking the test that day? That week? That month?

Again, I don't know if this is true but I was hoping for some feedback/input.

Thanks so much everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I sit for the DAT on July 7th and just want to know as much as possible before I do! 😀

If the max score is a 27 then that is an easy test version.
If the max score is a 30 then it is a hard test version. Relatively speak...
So, it goes by test version. Everyone who has taken that version.

Why not re post the question after you get your 27? You need to stop listening to tales and find your own answers. The 2 that scored a 30 in the 2007 pool must not have not heard your friend's version of the max score for bio.

It's possible, but like they said, 27, 30, 28, etc...they are all very high and very good scores. A dental school would be very impressed with any scores over 25 because it means you missed one questions or less (roughly).

I've seen people who got 100% or 99.9% put up 30 or 29 in those sections but never lower then that....If you perfect a section I think the lowest score your going to get is a 29 which all the D schools pretty much know is perfect.

Thus I don't think you need to worry about it, if someone got a 27 they may have thought you nailed every question but likely missed one. There is no way to confirm how many questions you actually missed by your score. You can pretty much assume a 29 or 30 is perfect.

i believe it is impossible to get perfect scores in certain sections, because when they make the test there are questions that are not scored (these are used to see if the test is too hard/ easy for the next version). i think you can verify this by looking up how/where the questions on the DAT come from...
