DAT Score

Hey SDN! so I just took the DATs on Tuesday (9/2/08) and here are my scores:

Perceptual Ability: 20
Quantitative Reasoning: 20
Reading Comprehension: 18
Biology: 29
General Chemistry: 26
Organic Chemistry: 23
Total Science: 26
Academic Average: 23

-For PA, I used Crack the Pat, which was great. Nothing better.
-For all the sciences, I used The Destroyer + Cliffs Notes for each subject
-Reading Comprehension: I definitely recommend doing a couple of practice exams just to get used to the rough timing (which is, by the way, the only difficulty with this section)

i know this is pretty newbish of me to ask, but what is the overall score of the OP? 23? or do schools concentrate on specific sections ie. of course sciences, etc. and basically overlook the 23?

the overall is Academic average or AA: 23
the total science is the average of the 3 science scores (TS)

people break it down as AA/TS/PAT.

schools usually look at AA/TS most importnatly..and some may focus more on RC or PAT more than others.

TS (Total science) is not an average it is a given depending on how many of the science questions you got correct not an average. although I wish it was.

which study aid do you recommend?

1. Biology, Chemistry - Destroyer, Cliffs
2. Organic - Destroyer
3. Math - Crack the Math
4. Pat - Crack the Pat

Honestly, Kaplan, Barron's, Topscore, Achiever are all a waste of time.

thanks for the help..I need to buy some of those stuffs like destroyer, CDP etc etc. Are you going to sell them or you are keeping it for yourself. I was only wondering that if you havent decided to sell to others, can I buy it from you..may be? Thanks

I forgot to add a point there but u used the cliff for bio and chem..I bought the AP cliff bio from amazon, Did u use Ap chem or its different from the one I got.

Achiever and TopScore are invaluable in their ability to mock the DAT format and test yourself to a degree. Neither is meant to teach you like a textbook obviously. To someone like me who took no Kaplan or Romano (didn't even know he taught a course?!), I'd have to have been nuts to take the DAT w/o taking practice tests to learn the format and timing for each section.

I advise getting destroyer perhaps 2 months away from your test because you will have updated questions....

Cliffs AP bio is a great overall outline of the biology the AP subject books in general are great....try to find a kaplan white book which is 10x better then then blue book most stores have also practice tests are a must so I'd buy topscore and achiever unless your taking the kaplan course which has online material with plenty of practice tests..

The one thing I didn't use and it hurt my PAT score was I depended on kaplan for PAT which was a mistake so get crack DAT PAT
