I keep reading on here that if you have a lower GPA then you need to shoot for a really high DAT score. (Like if you have a 3.0, you need a 21+)

What is a decent DAT score for someone who has a higher GPA (my cumulative is 3.6 and my science is 3.4)?

Every practice test I take, I keep getting 18s and I'm kinda concerned that I might repeat on test day. Would that be an okay score for someone with my GPA is it *required* that I get above a 20 to be competitive?

Thanks for any input! 😀

19s would probably get you into most schools, but you should be shooting for 30s no matter what. Also keep in mind that some schools award scholarships based on your GPA and DAT score. If you're getting 18s on practice tests, maybe you should put off taking the test until you can make sure your result will give you the confidence you need going into the app process. As long as you take the DAT by August or so, you should still have plenty of time to be eligible for good news on Dec 1.

Relax. The real thing is easier than the practice tests (Topscore, Kaplan). I think I was only averaging around 18-19 pre DAT, and ended up with 21 AA. Just make sure you are taking them the proper way (using the timer), because time management is very important. Good luck! I'm sure you will be matriculating somewhere next year! 👍

I think with 18's you will be fine.

If you are pulling 18's on practice tests, chances are that you will get a couple points higher on the real thing. Dont worry, you should be just fine.

I agree with Godfather and rezdawg--you'll probably get higher on the real thing.

But regardless, shoot for 30s, and then deal with the problem after you get your score. It may not even be a problem, so don't worry about it until it actually happens.

I dont mean to encourage mediocrity, but you do have a very good GPA and a 18/19 DAT is all you need to get into school. Now if you want to go to a very selecive/competitive school, you may need higher scores. I would shoot for high scores--you never know what may happen. There has been a recent boom in applications the last couple of years and it is getting harder and harder to get in.
