DAT scores hot off the press

Looks like you robbed Peter to pay Paul. Your gpa may be your saving grace.
Reminder: 19 is a GREAT score.
Plus with that 3.9, your set.

Ditto
although the OP didn't make overall improvement, we shouldn't think of a 19 DAT as needing to be saved or rescued by a high GPA...
PAT 19 --> 21 and improving the lowest score from 15 --> 16 is an improvement I think.

Dont listen to all these critics. You definitely improved your score because the first time, you had more of a range and the second time around you were generally more consistent. The only thing that "hurt" you the second time was the OC section. If that had been in the 19-20 range or even a 21 like your first exam, then your TS and AA would have been well above the average for applying and even accepted students for most schools. So congrats on that!👍
In terms of your question, I don't know the "right" answer, but I'd be willing to bet money that they look at an exam holistically. Some people on SDN have reported that they look at only one test, in which case you're fine. If they look at both, then its even better for you because you showed improvement in most subjects. So overall, congratulations, now go relax and enjoy your weekend!

Nothing wrong with the scores,

but TS and AA remained unchanged.

also--does anyone know if dental schools mix and match the best scores from each test, or do they only take one set or the other? i can't seem to find a definitive answer...
They do not. They take the scores from your last take. You have a 19AA, not a 20 as your predents profile suggests.

5 schools consider average DAT scores
24 schools consider most recent
27 schools consider highest

An AA of 19 is "great score" but it is out of sync with a gpa of 3.9. For 2007, with a mean AA of 19.43 leaves only 14 schools with a DAT under 19.

sync or no sync, a 19AA and a 3.9GPA and your good to go.
