I just started calling dental schools to see if my DAT scores had been received. For ASDOH and NOVA I was transferred to admissions I guess and both times after being transferred I got an answering machine... The person I spoke to at Maryland said I wouldn't be in their system until submitting my application over the summer so there was no way to look up if they had my scores... Shouldn't they know if they have my scores??? Does anyone know what's up with this?

If I may ask a related question: When should I send the scores? I took the DAT last month. When I registered for the test I picked out five schools that ADA sends scores to free of charge, so should I select more schools on the ADA Score Request form before or after application opens?

They are up to their elbows in applications right now and trying to fill up the rest of their class and getting everyone in the class acclimated. I doubt they are gonna give too much thought to someone applying next cycle as horrible as that sounds. They have applicants calling everyday inquiring about their status. I'd recommend emailing them and asking them the same question. They'll probably appreciate that more and will me much more convenient for them.

UW is one of the 5 free schools I selected to send scores to when I registered for the DAT. Will I need to send scores (and fork out $25) again?

No, I'm pretty sure schools get scores, open a file for you, and wait for your application. They aren't going to take scores and throw them away because it isn't June yet. Send them ASAP so they can be filed and you don't have to worry about it. No sense waiting for June then having another 3 weeks between having your app complete with those schools

That exactly what I got out of talking to a few schools.

I have specifically asked this question and an admissions officer at UW told me that if they do not have the application, they will NOT hold the DAT scores. Svart Aske, you will have to pay extra 25$ to mail the scores at least to UW after you submit the app. This is not "what I think", this is what I have been told by the person at UW SOD.

Thanks for the definitive answer. Now I have to find out what other schools follow the same annoying policy. Maybe it's a good idea to wait until application opens to send out scores to all the schools.

I wrote on my planner to find out which schools actually start the file for an applicant when DAT scores arrive =). Besides UW, I haven't talked to any of the schools about this issue yet.. We still have time, I guess.
When I was taking the DAT last December, I selected UW, UOP, UCLA, UCSF and Michigan as 5 schools. Should call them first heh)
