I'm Canadian and I just got my scores for my second try at the DAT

RC - 18 :/
Bio - 20
Chem - 22
Science Total - 21
AA - 20
PAT - 20
Carving - 16 :/

I'm happy I improved some of my scores but my RC and carving dropped.
Will these scores be competitive in the states with a 3.4 GPA?
Or should I retake it in feb because my RC is low?

Thanks for the feedback guys 🙂

To answer your question, "Will these scores be competitive in the states with a 3.4 GPA?
Or should I retake it in feb because my RC is low?", here is what I have to say:

Since your AA (20) is above average (~19) than that of the national DDS/DMD enrollees', this should help increase your competitiveness in the States. However, your GPA is slightly on the lower end of the applicant pool (avg. GPA ~ 3.5) so it will decrease your competitiveness in the States. The two quantitative statistics (GPA and DAT) are important in a sense that one reinforces the other. With both quantitative statistics combine, your overall competitiveness (solely base on numbers) will be about average in the States (abv. avg. DAT with slightly blw. avg. GPA). In addition, being a Canadian will put you at a disadvantage relative to other in-States applicants. Nevertheless, in the end, it all depends on which school you plan on applying to for some schools will emphasize heavily on the RC section than the QR and PAT while others just look at your TS with a decent RC, QR, and PAT.

thank you for your thoughtful insight
I think I'll hold off on rewriting the DAT and focus on doing well in the remainder of my final year.
is there any way to find which schools emphasize RC?
I've looked at Doc Toothache's posts but they only show AA ranges of schools.

I think youll have a good chance just make sure you apply to schools that are in your range. 18 on RC isn't a death sentence at all. I got lower than that received 7 interviews.

PS: don't forget about the big picture...it isn't just DAT scores. Make sure you have a killer personal statement. Don't overlook that.
